Anyone can ask what they want for anything.

Its the sale price and value that is relevant.

Meantime I'm just off to list my car for sale at £6m.

Did it actually sell? TF cars do a lot of Sale or return but in answer to your question, we have hot tubs to fill and peacocks to feed.

That's not dealers being greedy that the current market for used cars across the board 2nd hand prices are sky high.

I suppose the other side of the coin is ‘why are buyers so stupid’.

If someone comes along and just splurges that amount of money without doing a bit of due diligence (which for me would be studying the market for at least a few months) then they are liable to be taken for a ride.

On the other hand, this is rather blatant and so, if people do their homework it will gather dust or be subject to some sensible offers.

Don't you have to pay fees on top of the final sale price on collecting cars or will the 78k already include this?

Buyer fees of £4.7k on top of purchase price, so it’s really £83k plus any prep, servicing, reconditioning, warranty.

Dealers need to make a profit shocker.

Plus the dealer hasn't sold it yet..? He could have that car for months and months or longer...! Assuming he does sell at the asking price there's £3700 VAT to pay..... so already the posters "greedy" £26990.00 Profit has £7K to come off with all the associated fees, prep, warranty, stocking costs, and buisness overheads along with his consumer liabilities.... But of course the poster could always start his own car sales business and then he could undercut the "greedy" dealers and make him self a fortune......rofl

He didn't buy it for 78k though, there's 5k buyers fee on top.

So that's down to 22k. Then prep costs. Then repayments on the stocking loan, then vat on the margin, then overheads, then the obligation to fix any after sale issues...

It really does make good sense to sell for more than you buy, and even more sense to pay as little as possible and sell for as much as possible.

Anybody who doesn't understand this concept is living under a rock.

Nobody has to buy, you can always walk away and wait for something you can afford, or at the price you wish to pay.

Posters like the OP make me smile, as if they would not do the same thing if they were in business smile

I agree that it is a strange thing to say. Maybe the OP is making these remarks because there is a vested emotional interest in his car hobby?

The OP either:
(1) Works for a business that generates profit
(2) Works for an organisation that is funded and he derives a salary
(3) Derives an income from financial or property investment

Either way he too "profits" unless he has zero income.
