Here are a few photo's i took at Mallory Park on 20th August, did take around 100+ so here is a small selection.

I think Howard and Chassis 33 needed to have a change of pants after the little off.

Yes it was the second race, he did really well indeed to hold it, i thought he was a cert for the barrier.
Oh and it was nice to meet you Blaine

Blimey, that looked exciting! As the pics were downloading, I was waiting for the picture of Iain's Chim in the tyres...so obviously a good save then!

Shame I couldn't make it along in the end. I had some prior business to attend to (new car hunting...)

Nice pictures BTW; looks like there was a good entry. What happened to Tim Hood's Sagaris for it to go off at Shaws?

Sorry about that, we had a phone call just as I was about to leave home about a car we wanted to look so that took priority. Shame I missed the racing but at least you had a nice walk...

Having sat through it, and now seen the photos and the vid, bloody hell!!!

Mental note for future reference, don't go Tuscan chasing...

I'm just ripping the video off the camera now, I'll put up the whole race and a small clip of the moment in a bit.

Iain

Glad you enjoyed it. Over all it was a good day out, problems with our car in the second race but we still managed class ftd in both races .

I thought all the cars put on a good account of themselves with good lap times through out the classes.

That was quite amusing.....Tim was trying to get past Taz27 on the run up the hill in race 1 but I defended the inside line so Tim tried a late brake attempt on the outside............too late obviously!!!!

Must admit that I wasn't particularly looking forward to Mallory given the big accident I had last year and I've always had a few technical problems there. The day got off to a bad start, the car failing scrutineering on front wheel bearings. A few adjustments and we passed ok with about 45 mins to qually. The track was wet and it was a tough call on tyres, I decided to go for slicks but a few went for wets, notably Hui and Mark Hockin. On the first lap out I wondered if I'd made the right choice as the guys on wets roared past whilst I slithered around. I hoped that the track would dry a little toward the end of the session so I just built the pace up and got accustomed to the low grip levels. With about 5 mins of the session left I finally started to get some heat into the slicks and I could feel the grip coming in so I pushed on and managed a couple of nice tidy laps. 4th place on the grid was a fantastic result, maybe Mallory was going to be nice to me for a change!

After qually we took the bonnet off only to discover that the radiator was leaking coolant. big thanks to Jamie at CRE for the radweld which cured the problem. While all of this was being sorted I noticed the right rear slick looked a bit low on pressure, a puncture *%^£%%****. Luckily the Dunlop guys were at the circuit and they had our tyre size....but the wrong compound. So as we went out for the race we had a brand new unscrubbed medium soft slick on the right rear and a very worn soft slick on the left rear, this was gonna be interesting. I had a good start but lost a place to GW who had a blinder but I managed to keep the old Taz right with the Griff and Tuscan for about 5 laps until the tyres started to go off. I'd settled for a very comfortable third in Class until I started having fuelling problems (again) which made the engine cut on the way up to the hairpin and through Devils Elbow. It was costing me about 3 seconds a lap and Kevan verly nearly caught me on the line. I must say that I was chuffed with my fastest lap of 51.286 secs in a 25 year old car just 0.4 and 0.8 secs off 2 class A Tuscans.

I was looking forward to race 2 after we had made some more mods to the fuel system. I gridded up behind Dean who didn't get going at the start and I so nearly made contact with him, the evasive manouevre allowd Kevan past and I chased him down for a couple of laps until he outbraked himself into Shaws and I slipped past. At this point it started to go wrong, an exhaust manifold started to blow and I was losing boost pressure and an inpressive dive by Kev up the inside into Gerrards got him third place back. With the manifold getting worse and boost dropping off I couldn't keep with him and had to settle for 4th in class, at the end of the race the car was very flat. I reckoned we had about 200 bhp at the end, less than some Class C cars. Todays dyno run gave us 210bhp!!!! so a bit of work to do before Brands.

Overall a thoroughly good weekend and very nice to get a Taz at the pointy end of the grid in qually.

Now then, 210 + 200 = 350, right. That explains our apparent lack of pace but wasn't the boy flying. Low flying more like.

Iain's moment was almost identical to Cliff's last year when he missed my backend by a couple of feet and nearly ended up in the lake.

Anyone know where there is a load of Wildcat bits going cheap. Will they fit a pinto block?

Think his headers were leaking, badly hence going back to n/a power. One race day, everything will slot into place and that will be really good! 210 hp is about what a stock 24v produces and he's got a low compression engine so that's also encouraging.

too right Steve out accelerated me from the hairpin as I came round to lap him, and then almost had me on the grass going into gerrards and he moved over to let the saggy through..

Yes I dont think Iain can really complain about his luck this year, He was very very lucky to get away with that!!!!

Nah, the car felt like it had about 200bhp at the end of the race, turned out I was wrong...it actually has 210.8bhp so much work to do before Brands. Should be able to get the engine back to where it was for Mallory qually but still not the most powerful Tasmin out there though!!!!!!!
