Renault, McLaren and the FIA
Discussion
So the time has come, Renault have their investigation today into them having McLaren IP, the case is being heard in Monaco and should last 1 day, so hopefully we will hear by the end of the day whether the FIA are being consistant in their penalties, to me, the renault case is more definate than the McLaren case, but this is the FIA after all.
McLaren were forced to correct a leaked statement referring to what they know/think/been told Renault had of their IP, again, it was the FIA who made this happen.
Then tomorrow, the FIA will apparently hear the case of whether McLarens 2008 car will face any penalty as a result of the case against them earlier in the year.
To me, the next couple of days are going to be very intersting, and hopefully will bring a close to the debarcle of the 2007 season, or maybe Renault will appeal.
Whats everyone elses thoughts?

I have just read through the statements and views on a few of the sites. It seems rather strange that Maclaren have to issue a correction. The difference is in the detail not the general content. Compare this with the sort of rubbish that was emanating from Italy before the second Maclaren case.
I think, and this is pure guess work, that a deal has been done: Maclaren have been told to back off or their 2008 car will be deemed to be a silver Ferrari = minus all constructor points again, and Renualt will get off with the same original punishment that maclaren did, a warning. I hope I'm wrong. I liked the idea on f1-grandprix.com of chucking hte whole thing out and if anybody wanted to do anybody for IP infrigment then go a deal with it in a proper court of law, otherwise shut up, put the toys back in the pram, and get on with the racing!

It's pissing down here, it probaly is in Paris too.
Not the sort of place the members of the WMSC would like to be.
However............
A long weekend in Monaco, fist class flights, 5 star hotels, perhaps a bit of spending cash for the tables.
I wonder who will sign off the expenses.
I wonder who has briefed them.
I wonder if this disgusting debacle will ever end.

It’s going to be a whitewash. The forced correction is the latest effort by Max to grease the wheels – you may have noticed Bernie’s statement last week to the effect that what Renault did wasn’t all that bad really.
Max knows that he’s messed up and opened the floodgates, now he’s desperate to close them, especially as he’s in danger of losing a team. After the Prodrive debacle he can hardly afford to start next season with two fewer cars, can he?
The problem is, the perception (and let’s not beat about the bush, this is what really counts) of F1 these days is that the playing field is by no means level. However, since this only affects the fanbase at this time Moseley sees no harm in continuing to undermine the sport. After all, he’ll be long gone by the time the sponsors walk.

un ing believable
I guess they will say that it's the same as MClaren's hearing in July - guilty but no penalty, it was only after they got the Alonso texts and SMS's that they kicked Mclaren out and slapped the fine on them
Makes no sense to me - or to anyone else
Any Ferrari fans want to shed some light on this ?
