Hello All 
At the moment, im neck deep in a bare shell rebuild and track prep of 2001 Nissan Silvia S15 Spec R. The end goal is to produce a 1000hp capable track/drift car that can compete in a range of championships here in the UK and Europe as well as being a generally all round well built, reliable package.

The car was purchased for me by Japanese Performance Parts in Crawley and was brought across from Japan during mid 2007. As you can see from the pictures below, it’s been in a minor prang! But in reality, it wasn’t a big deal at all considering that the main damage components (Bonnet, Wing etc) were all being replaced with light weight items anyway.

Original SR20DET engine

Along with the S15, we also brought across one of these….
1993 Infinity Q45

Why did we bring across a horrible looking early 90’s barge? All will become clear later….

8 weeks and a long journey by sea later, a bloody large container arrived in Crawly.

First Opening of the container doors…

Working our way through the container…

First sight of the car…

Finally out in the great british… err… sunshine… sort of…

We immediately start stripping the car back to it’s chassis…

With all main components stripped the shell is loaded up onto the trailer for it’s first of many journeys! Next stop, RS Fabrications in Banbury…

Continues...
The Car's now a completely bare shell and ready for chassis prep. First job was to make up a jig for the chassis roller and get it spinning.

Rear Firewall Removed

Fuel Filler welded up and sealed

Seem Welding Starting

Engine Bay Holes Sealed Up…

Cage is now pretty much done…

Cross Bars

Roof

From Inside…

One of my favourite bits so far, they have incorporated the dash support crossbar into the cage. Looks almost OEM, unbelievable fabrication and attention to detail imo.

Arch Tubs cut out and re-fabricated (basically loads of room for lots of steering lock and larger wheels when used for drifting)

See how they have plated the suspension turrets to add strength to the chassis and also a good solid point for the cage to mount off.

They have replaced the front cross member and chassis leg on the O/S due to the crash damage. (S14 one used)

Rear Arch Tubs

Remember me talking to you about this earlier on?

Well basically the Infinity Q45 has a 4.5ltr Alloy Block V8 engine. For anybody who doesn’t know, these engines are amazingly over engineered from stock. They are light and produce 300hp & 300ftlb’s out of the box without touching them. We are going to strip it down, put in some lower compression pistons (probably to be custom 8.5:1 jobbies by Cosworth) Ferriday Copper Head Gaskets, Head work (inc cams & Springs but standard valves) and a full rebuild kit etc. Custom Inlet & Exhaust Manifolds + a pair of custom made turbo’s by Owen Developments. For it’s first incarnation we are using a Z32 5 speed gearbox with a triple plate Carbonetic clutch.

Anyway enough talking…
Custom, Re-enforced cross member

Engine Bolted up, obviously nothing is painted/powder coated yet, this is a test fit.

Box in

See the gearbox adaptor plate

Engine in the Chassis (Tada!)

Good position

Loads of space (lol)

Final Pictures..

Now it’s collect from RS Fabrication and off to Janspeed for them to fabricate the inlet & exhaust manifolds + exhaust system, radiator, intercooler and a load of other stuff
(we are now up to date now, your going to have to hang on for an update!)

Hope you enjoyed!
Thanks

Chris

Engine bay looks cramped even before adding the turbos and plumbing. Will be interesting to see how this one turns out.

Your not kidding, but it's not actually so bad in real life. Pictures make it look worse than it really is. The radiator is going in the boot, oil coolers are up front, but the transmission cooler, fuel cooler, diff cooler are being built into a special fabricated compartment where the rear seats go. Exhausts are going to be size exit (one each side in front of the rear wheel) and the external w/gate screamer pipes will be vented behind the front wheels.

Positioning of the turbo's is the biggest brain scratchier at the moment. Practicality says that they should be mounted underneath the car (where there is more than enough room) but ideally i would like them top mounted in the engine bay.

We will see smile

Either way, the engine bay shouldn't be that cramped, two oil coolers & a power steering cooler & intercooler/s in the front + all the piping smile

It's Bizzle actually dear boy smile LOL being named after male sexual excretions really isn't my thing smile

They are on:

34 Stephenson Way
Crawley
West Sussex
RH10 1TN

Bloody nice people if you ask me, it’s owned by a family and they must easily be one of the biggest importers of Salvage Japanese sports cars in the UK. They have everything and a whole room full of aftermarket performance goodies for 200sx’s, skylines, Lancer Evolutions, Subaru Impreza’s etc. Wheels, Exhausts, Turbo’s, Brakes, suspension, you name it, they probably have It’s like an Aladdin’s cave for Jap Performance Petrol Heads.
