A Third Retro German (964 Turbo)
Discussion
A few months ago I picked up a nice '91 E30 325 sport as my daily driver and this weekend I've picked up another retro German from the same year. It's a rather tasty 964 Turbo which has had a fair bit done by the previous owner to turn it in to a bit of a track weapon. I've gone halves with Mike who I co-own Project E36 with, which strangely enough is another German from 1991. It was a good year for German cars IMHO
The engine has been modified to 430 BHP at 0.9 bar but the car has an adjustable boost controller which is supposed to up the power to just shy of 500 BHP at 1.3 bar. I'm not really up to speed on my Porsche engines (yet) so don't fully understand the spec, but the previous invoices for the engine work at DP Motorsports are eye watering.
The car only weighs around 1,250kgs apparently, having had most of the sound deadening and much of the interior trim removed. The doors are aluminium and the boot/rear spoiler is carbon fibre. The rear arches feature the Turbo S cooling ducts which is a nice touch. It's also got a full cage, buckets (trimmed in Porsche leather), harnesses, perspex windows etc.
The light weight and big power make the performance absolutely staggering. Below 4K the car is very pleasant to potter around in but once that turbo spools up it just goes mental. I've never been in a car this quick and so far we're only running on the mild 0.9 bar.
The suspension is an adjustable H&R set up and stopping is achieved with 993 RS calipers (again, I need to do some reading).
So my initial impression is that this is a very special car. I never really "got" Porsche in the past but I think I do now. More thoughts to come when I've spent a bit of time with it ......and when my eyes have stopped bleeding and my internal organs have returned to their original positions
It still needs a proper wash and wax but here are a few pics.

Cheers guys, glad you like it. I just love the looks - like it was born to go quick
Richard, there's a few pics of the 325 in this thread: http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/gassing/topic.asp?h=0...
It's a cracking car and one I can't see me selling for a while. I agree it's not the quickest but it's such fun to drive and the straight six sounds so nice when pushing on. Get another one before they all rust away

I'm not usually a fan of 911s but thats beautiful, the wheels and colour suit it perfectly!
The modern stuff doesn't really interest me but I've always liked the 930, 964 and 993.I'm pleasantly surprised by the colour actually. On the day I went to view it the car hadn't been washed and looked rather flat. Mike and I discussed having it painted white at some point but now it's had a wash and we've seen it on a sunny day, I think it'll be staying it's original colour. You can see in the third photo down that where the sun catches it, you get a lovely light blue metallic detail.
