Last week someone broke into my garage and stole 2 sets of Porsche wheels.

full set of 996 turbo wheels with Pirelli Rosso N4s

Set of 993 GT2 magnesium centre 5 spoke 9X18 ET 34 11X18 ET18 painted (silver) with nice painted Porsche crest centres with Bridgestone S02As 225/285

The GT2 wheels will be quite hard to shift since the offsets won't allow fitment to any stock Porsche.

Thankfully the car was not in the garage - it was in for work

Thanks for any info.

Presumably you are keeping a watch on e-bay?

Although having said that, someone near me had some parts nicked off his car on the drive. When he spotted them on e-bay two days later, he called the police who said they'd deal with it. Having heard nothing for a week, he called them again and they claimed they had been too busy to follow it up!

The police were probably too busy nicking motorists for doing 33 in a 30 zone.

TB993tt - sorry to hear about the wheels. I know its not much of a consolation but I had my bonnet badge ripped off by some scally with a screwdriver at the weekend - what a great start to xmas period!

hmmmm......with a car like yours, I bet it wasn't opportunist either. Maybe someone has been following you back. Any luck with the police?

Just rest assured that anyone stealing your car is in for a shock - 500+bhp, only RWD and slippery english roads!

People will nick anything, before I got my porker I used to start my car ealry on cold mornings - as most people do - then go back inside to finish my coffee.. came out one day to find some little shite rummaging around in the glovebox. Thankfully nothing in there. He legged it.

I motion that anyone seen wearing burburrey, kappa or some YSL wooly hat gets arrested on sight.

No way mate - not if i lived in the most sleepy village in the world. I take the keys out my 4x4 when i'm in the bush even - no one near me for hundreds of miles. Possibly. You just don't know.

Not only that, but the quickest way to warm up your engine (and best practice for the engine) is to drive it on cold mornings, nice and steady. Not leaving it idling on the drive.

FWIW.

Had a similar experience a few years ago. Started car to warm up. Went indoors for breakfast. happened to look out of the window to see two little scrotes trying to drive the car away !!!! Fortunately, they stalled the car, and then ran off when they spotted me. Unfortunately (for them) I used to be bloody quick on my feet, and caught them. I had intended to give them a damn good smacking, but it turned out that they were both about 14 !!! I gave them to the police, who informed me that they had both absconded from a deliquent childrens home a few days previously, and had been sleeping rough, and spending their time stealing cars. They also asked me if I would be prepared to press charges, which I happily agreed to. having then wasted a morning going to the local nick to make a formal statement, i found out that they had been released back to the childrens home without charge !!! So much for law and order.

You should have taken them back to your house, chained them up to the garage wall, re-appeared in a latex gimp suit with a big pot of Vaseline in one hand and a chain saw in the other.

That would have learned 'em !!!

Fnar... Fnar....

(only joking.... honest...)

Sorry to hear about your theft.... complete bummer. Will keep an eye out on Ebay for you.

On a similar topic I know a guy a number of years ago who had his wheels and mirrors stolen from his E36 M3 - shortly later one of the local scallies was seen driving his bmw coupe with some M3 alloys and M3 mirrors fitted!! Now we were pretty certain they had been sourced from my mates car but proving this was another matter. This makes me think that security marking certain items might not be such a bad idea

On the subject of warming the car... if you really must do this then at least consider employing two sets of keys, one in set in the ingnition (obviously to start the car) and the other set to manually lock the doors.

I would also hazard that if they were stolen by opportunists that they are more likely to try and fence them to the local 2nd hand alloy wheel dealer for quick cash rather than the hassle of sticking them on Ebay themselves. Might cConsider buying the local autotrader and seeing who advertises in there.... see who has just had some in etc.

The sad thing is fg tts won't know what they've got and when they work out they can't be fitted to any old 911 will probably throw them over a bridge

Does anybody buy 'dodgy' Porsche Turbo/GT2 wheels? Just can't imagine who would buy them.
