I am no expert on cerbera history but i have been reading loads of stuff regarding the cerbera and been on several test drive as i am considering purchasing a 4.2 or 4.5, and i have not heard of this special edition in all of the articals i have read anyway.
so in my novice opinion is it a 4.5 LW redrose edition cause of the uprated brakes and suspension, and the engine mods.

But i did not think that it increase the bhp by that much, i thought it was only the power to weight ratio that was changed..

It is not a 4.5Lw as they are t/V reg and feature the new lights.

This looks like a boggo 4.5L cerb, unless it comes with paperwork to say different then i would be 'cautious'.

Whats the 500 about, 500bhp? 5 Litre.....

The reason you have not heard of it is because there is no such thing, and the car in the Privilege GT championships is a Cerbera Speed 12 which is a completely different car an only has the name in common.

Anyway 5 litre AJP-8 do (did?) exist: the first versions were used in Tuscan racers, a long long time ago...I don't think PW an JR would have resisted the envy to try to put one in a Cerb

The 5 litre engines that were first used in the Tuscan racers were Rover V8's, the switch was then made to the 4.5 AJP V8.

That's not what I read in John Tipler's book (pictures to prove)...but please tell me if I'm wrong

Don't belive everything you read as the authors do take a lot of artistic licence to fill in for the questions that they forgot to ask.

I have'nt read Tipplers book for a long time so I don't
know excatly what he stated in it, but you can have a laugh at some of the rubbish that I have read in magazine articles about TVR's.

Whilst on the subject of factory 'funnies' whilst investigating the 400HC lump in my V8S, HHC alluded to a 500HC V8S (circa 94) out there! is there such a beast? and if so what else was updated to accept the increase in HP?

Well I thought Shortys Cerbera was a Speed 6 anyway, surely that is the model that would need to be homolgated.

And I thought the 500bhp S model was fitted with a Cosworth motor, 4 cylinders and a big turbo.

You are wrong.

TVR has raced a Cerbera with an AJP8 engine in the british GT series some years ago. HHC has a little pic on their homepage, because they raced it for one season.

I have seen one race car in flesh at the factory and have also seen the Homologation car finished in TVR purple, but this car looks very different from the advertised one. It has had massive breaks, 18 inch alloys and a heavily modified bonnet with new air intakes.

Hope that brings a little bit sunlight into the discussion.

Probably nothing else, but I have a long list of things you would need to upgrade for it to be remotely safe or reliable.

I know which one you mean, no not that one. It's apparently a V8S with a griff500 lump in it, or so folklore would have it.
Just thought Lee J would know of it thats all.

Saw a rare example of a Cerbera 4.5 (showing 4.7 on the V5) in for servicing at a respected North London dealer a couple of years ago. It too was a 97/98 R plate and had apparently been built for a 'friend' of the factory. It was said at the time that capacity was 4.7 litres with work to the ports and combustion chambers and management mapping to suit. Probably similiar fettling to that being offered by the factory today as Red Rose pack for the current 4.5 but with an extra 200cc to play with. Power output was said to be in excess of 450bhp. Maybe this is a similiar car. Certainly built the same year?

yep but that was back in 96/97 and the one below was being claimed as a homologation special 98/R- since when do produce a homologation car more than a year after they stopped racing the original one.

i think the car is a boggo 4.5 but would love to hear different.
