Could anyone give me an idea of realistic running costs over a 24 month 10,000 period?

Have you taken a look at the running reports section of fcars, to give you a general idea of cost

www.fcars.co.uk/forumdisplay.php?f=77

Maintenance costs depend on several factors, have the belts been changed etc etc Will the work be done at an Indie or main dealer

Here is Verdi's fixed rate servicing card

www.verdiferrari.biz/servicing.htm

Then there's depreciation, insurance costs, did you get a good deal to begin with etc etc etc etc etc etc

i took the plunge into a 360 last weekend after owning a range of 911s but never a f car. did alot of research before hand and got a car which has had full belt service and clutch just b4 xmas so if u can find one in a similar situation u shouldnt need to spend very much on it. i was astounded by how well it drove and how light and manouverable it felt and also by the sense of quality and integerity it had, wasnt expecting that from an italian car. would be happy to discuss offline anytime if u need any further info.

5K a year??? I can guarantee you'll wanna do a lot more than that once you start driving it!! I still can't believe people out there still only put this amount of mileage a year on their machines Where do they drive to?? And how can they become one with the car in this short space of time???

I know people will lose more in depreciation in the end but hey, we all are so why not a lose a little bit more and enjoy it properly???

Sorry, going off on one there...Not aimed at you fella...

F1 will go through clutches, better with the later software,

Tyres will be around £700-£800 all round if you look properly and they will wear quickly if used well,

Belts and brakes are not too bad on wear and costs, check Verdi's website,

Stone Chip removals around £300 - £400

But it's a Ferrari so beware that if things go wrong it won't cost Vectra money to put right.

Bit of advice which I should have taken myself, buy one that has been used so items like the above have been done. Don't be put off with mileage if serviced and looked after properly. I had to fork out for an F1 clutch and new brakes pretty soon after buying mine

OK, I might be being a bit naive here, but where exactly are all these high mileage Ferraris, because I can't find any advertised. The reason I've limited myself to 5k a year is because I'm worried that a 360 with more than 20k won't sell!!!! I'd prefer to drive it every day.

Where are all the high mileage F cars? All over the place - the have just been clocked!! Speak to anyone in the trade and they will tell you it is rife.

So a low number of owners is potentially a bad thing???

Putting it that way, yes. I've never cared about the number of owners in any car I've owned. I've always judged a car by it's condition.

I think you're right. I'll have to forget about the number on the dashboard and look carefully. Like buying an old 911.

An independed F car specialist once told me a story about a 348 he had sold. He sold it with 25k miles and a year later the guy px for another car and it was showing 26k. During this one year the specialist spotted that car took part in the south of france taking part in a rally/tour. Why would anyone spend so much mooney on buying it and running it if they indend to leave it in the garage?

I know two people with 360's. Both have regular "dashboard adjustments". My friend has his spider done once a month as it is his every day car. In the first year of ownership he did 15,000 miles in it, the car showed 4,000.

The other friend (I use the term loosely) is a car dealer, selling some very nice cars, most of which are "tickled". He has admitted clocking not only what he sells but what he drives. In the past year and a half this would include 3 360's and 1 Gallardo.

1 in 3 is a very optamistic.

How do these people get away with the services date and milage in the service book/history? Seems very wrong for people who may spend in excess of £100k to have to clock the cars. bad news!!

Its easy to check proper mileage on a 360 with a sd2 as it shows total mileage done in each gear and not as easily forged, so whenever you get a 360 get a dealer to hook up the sd2 to it and add the mileage up in each gear to give you a true mileage reading rather then what the dashboard says.

Hey ~Rich - do all (current e.g. 550 360 430 456 612 etc) share the smae software for the odometer? i.e. anyone know if you can do the same mileage check on a 550?
