Ferrari factory collection

When I ordered my 360 I thought that it was always an option to collect the new cars from the factory if you so decided.
However the time is nearly here and after enquiring with the dealer I have been told I can't, even though they will let me go on a factory tour just a few weeks later.
Is this right? Is it worth my while writting to Ferrari UK or am I wasting my time?

Simply asked Maranello Concessionaires and they sorted it. Got to be worth asking, although perhaps they won't for the poverty spec Ferraris

I remember when I was seduced by a povvie-spec Crewester RT back in '97, there were no qualms about such factory-customer interfaces.
Indeed, I recall being invited to a rather charming luncheon in the mini-museum they have down at Pyms Lane, surrounded by some of the most exquisite pieces of Royce and W.O. finery in existence.
Of course, purchasers of Contis that day were flown to The Riviera for tea and buns with the Grimaldis...

Can anyone tell me why the three Enzo reviews I've read thus far (one from a US mag, two from Blighty), involved the protagonists being flown to Modena whilst some quivering Eyetie test driver larges it for the photographers? Most un-sportsmanlike. Compare and contrast if you will the McLaren road tests (sorry to dig this up, but the car is a legend) - phone rings at Mc HQ "Hello, its Autocar, we want to thrash the tits off one of your million dollar cars. Any chance?"

I wonder if there's something they don't want you to see Bertie? Just a thought. Whatever, I think you're bang on- get in touch with Ferrari UK (not the dealer) and kick up a stink.

I did a factory tour a few weeks back and at the end of the production line was a new car, covered, and ready for collection that day by its new owner. So YES you can collect from the factory. As has been stated speak to Ferrari UK.

How true. Just wish it was for show. They really are a$$holes in my opinion.
It's why the next car will definitely not be one of theirs (famous last words etc, but I am trying!
) Thing is with Ferrari, they are rarely consistent. A different rule or procedure for each different day, for each different customer etc etc.
Porsche, Mercedes and BMW offer this service to all customers. I am amazed how Ferrari can alledgedly cherry pick which customers can have the factory collection option. I would wager they discourage this option because they can't be arsed entertaining wretched customers for an afternoon combined with the problem of cars not rolling off the line in time for planned collection dates. I mean who do these darn customers think they are? they're only spending £100k+ a visit!!! I imagine your letter to Maranello UK, bypassing your dealer should elicit the preferred response.

Unless his letter goes to their customer services manager who I have had the displeasure of dealing with, or not as was the case, prepare for your letter to be ignored, claimed to have not arrived, being dealt with by somebody who only works part time etc etc, bloody awful, can't remember the guys name now,, Alan I think, anyway he is more like a customer avoidance manager, in the end I wrote to the MD and hey presto 24 hours later it was sorted

Now I could be wrong or just very cynical, but do the dealers loose out by not getting the £2500 delivery charge if you collect from the factory?
By the way, delivery on every car I've ever known has always been circa £400, so why £2500? Does it cost sny more to transport a Ferrari from Italy than a Punto or a Honda from Japan.

I swore not to get another F car... I can't stand Ferrari's attitude... their warranties are soo much better than the rest though. I've been down to look at some Lambo's and at present I'm waiting to be contacted by Lambo UK when they receive the first Gallardo. I don't think its the car for me to be honest, as I was thinking for £55K more you could have the Murcielago.
Insurance quotes however have been restrictive (£14.8K was the best so far!!!) so I haven't been able to book in a build date. There is no real waiting list on these cars though, despite what people try and tell you. Lambo could have a car for me by September or March, and anytime after is no problem at all.
The Gallardo is the same, you could have one delivered by end of year or early next year.
I do like the Gallardo, but not sure about it until I see it in the flesh. Don't like the rear (nor the Murci rear, which I HATE as opposed to not like
).
The Gallardo has a major benefit: the clutch is not such an arse to change. This really scores highly for me, so I definitely want a look at one in the flesh. Looks mean in black!!
But the Murci looks good from the front and side angles. I'm also considering a Diablo 6litre (Orange one they have for sale), which funnily enough the insurance isn't so wild, £3900 for a 99 SV worth £90K, although they couldn't get their computers to show the 6litre so haven't got a proper quote on that(!!), I think it would probably only bump it up due to the difference in value?
The Diablo is IMO quite a bit better looking than the Murci, although IMO the Murci looks more compact and is a more sorted design (the rear 3/4 of the Diablo looks dumpy). The Diablo looks totally mad and is sooo dramatic.
Alas nothing can happen till I sort the insurance thing out, although I'm still loving the 355 and will definitely miss that lovely sound
