Dents in boot lid
Discussion

Just brought a 2006 Vantage V8 and I've noticed that I got four dents in the boot lid. I called the dealer and they told me that on early cars that this is common, Its how they are built. Is this true and has anybody else got these dents?
can you post a picture?I have owned 2 Vantage's and have no dents in my bootlid (although not 2006), so that sounds like bullst to me.
A very, very small bell is being rung here... I remener this being posted about a while back, a couple of years in fact.
Hopefully somebody more helpful will be along, but this has been discussed before and it is the way the cars are built - whether it was sorted or not, I can't recall

Yes this was problem on some of the early Vantages I had mine about a year MY2006 before these dents became apparent. It was caused by the adhesive the difference in the coefficient of contraction and expansion between the inner fixing adhesive and the rear hatch. It also occurred around the rear valance/bumper.
In my case the rear hatch was changed as well the rear screen had distortions in the screen. The adhesive was changed in later models

All I can say is that my 2007 hasn't got bumps in the boot lid. Sounds very odd and I am sure if it was common we would have heard much more about it on the various Aston forums.
I take it that they are hard to see as you obviously recently purchased the car with them there and did not spot them.

Surely something that should be fixed FOC by AM then as it is a manufacturing defect.v8woollie said:

Yes, apparently they all do this Sir. I'm sick to the back teeth of hearing this from dealers...Gassing Station | Aston Martin | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
