GT-R World And US Launches Confirmed

Just how many more launches will there be?

After its millionth launch, we'll finally get to drive it
After its millionth launch, we'll finally get to drive it
Nissan has chosen a time and place to unveil the New GT-R to the world, The Tokyo Motor Show in October.

After its official unveiling they’re going to be shipping it out to LA to have an official launch for North America at the LA Motor Show in November.

We can't wait to see this car after all the spy pics and images of it putting in some great times at the Ring. But we wonder just how many launches a car needs to have before we can actually buy it?

Still, we’d like to be there, please Nissan….

Been waiting ages for this to arrive! Looked very nice at Goodwood FOS, even though it was slightly disguised!

Why stress about attending the launch to drive it?

If its even a small step forward from the previous techno-marvel, it will probably drive itself.

Might be worth noting that that picture is of the first concept (hell, some people may not know...lol)

This was the last concept, which is supposed to be close to the real thing:

You do have to wonder where the development of the GT-R will go though. Roomers of bonnet re-designs for supercharger applications on even more focused versions. Comes with forged bits as standard etc so it is future tweak friendly. The design is awesome. Even the wheels are designed with a negative venturi-effect, so that the faster you go - they suck in additional air to cool breaks!!
GTR-R…GTR-RS…phwoor!!!!

With the success of the (Shhh - Toyota part owned, Toyota money) Subaru's halo, Imprezza short runs and Honda with the R-types, little wonder Nismo is a big part of the company rather than a funded partner company now.

When at the Ring with Jag on XK projects, Nissan were there en-mass. We'd get there and Nissan were already banging out laps! We'd Go home, and you guessed it - Nissan still hammering out the testing. From what I got, the goal is all the technology but with all the feedback. A real Euroesque drivers with car full of dynamic fun but still the magic GTR technology. Now that is a task!

Have you driven a GTR? Id hardly describe it as driving itself, techno gismos or not!

What I love about it is that fact that it's one of the few cars ever to look much better in close to release form than it did in concept form.

Still hues of Skyline of opld but with a nice modern touch.

As a current 350z owner (so probably one of their targets) I really can't get on with the styling. I hope it looks better in the flesh otherwise I'll be looking elsewhere.

Interestingly, go watch the video for gran turismo 5 prologue. The graphics are photo realistic and it's got a fully modelled GTR featured which gives you a pretty good idea of what one looks like in motion.

Here you go, starts with one from the rear: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hQU3gAPyhlg

That concept's so old it could have been on Outrun.

Besides the new skyline doesn't even have the proper cast iron block, which makes it so tunable.

I'd guess:

Japan - £40k

Europe / US - £70k equivalent

Previous R34 was £34k new in Japan, but £55k new over here.... I wonder if for example, 911's are £100k in Japan... I don't think so.

Due to contained pressure structure - cast Iron is no longer needed. At BMW - the Magnesium alloy is lighter than Aluminum and more rigid than Iron!
As for the Style - the Skyline - nee GTR and Z have lives along side since day one. The Skyline has a pedigree as long as the 911 and the Z cars also a fine legacy (I have a 240Z) The Z and GTR do different Jobs.

Look a little like a R34 collided with a 350Z in my opinion, but in a good way biggrin

Never let experience get in the way of a hackneyed opinion.

I don't think the GTR is going to be aimed at 350z drivers, from what I've heard the GTR will be 3 times the price for a start! I think they're after the 911 (along with everyone else!)

Ya know...i saw that first image and thought "Dear god its a cross-breed between a Citroen & a Fiat", then followed by "They've just done a "Subaru" to our beloved Skyline!!"

However, once i saw those pictures posted by Beef...Well, just..thank god!

The retail on a 350z is 30k, the retail on this is 60k. People generally progress to more expensive cars and as a whole the 350z is a positive ownership experience so Nissan will of course be targeting their current customers to upgrade.

I also agree with the 911 comment but with the V8V and the R8 all floating around the same price point it has stiff competition to steal away 911 owners.

I think it looks great. And as was stated above really like that it looks a lot like the concept, but it has taken long enough to get from concept to production. They seem to keep rolling the car out to keep the press excited about it. I just hope that it comes to the US well under 100K.

Front looks a bit pants when you compare the side and back profiles.

I hope someone makes an aftermarket front upgrade to give it the agression and muscle the side and back share!

Pretty sure it'll be hyper brisk and lap the Ring stupidly quick. 997 Turbo pace +
