Possibly a re-post - apologies and send me on my way if so

I'm looking to de-badge the bootlid of my 2001 320 ci.

I don't want to remove the BMW badge in the middle - just the 320 ci inscription on the right.

I've heard of people doing this with hair dryers/soapy water and the like - is this safe? Are there any holes in the bootlid that the badge fixes into or is it just stuck on?

Any info would be appreciated!

Stuck on. Dental floss is good to prise the digits off!

Loosen glue with hair-drier or do it on a hot day

I had a 540i badge on my 535i.... tsk tsk.... previous owner you know.

Pressure washer and some strong fingers had it in a couple of minutes. Then some mer polish to get rid of the glue sticky stuff and a polish after to make sure it was fine. Looks OK but needs a few more polishes until you cant notice where it was.

Get used to the idea that everyone will assume that it's a 318 though (we rebadged our 330).

Time for Nathan to post his photo of his CSL rebadged as a 318Ci.

Slight tangent but how is the M5?

Great. Different. Strangely fast, even while being run in - it just hints at astonishing reserves. Slower round tight corners. (all compared with CSL)

Need to install my CG locks. I had a me airborne in airborne car moment on Saturday!

I've just removed a set of badges from a boot repair I'm doing.

I used a length of fishing line (not braid!) to 'saw' through the adhesive. Then you can use something to get the residual off as described above.

Some of the methods mentioned will damage the paint.

The glue is softened with heat, so simply get your hairdryer to warm them up then pick them off with your fingers.

A bit of petrol removes any residue, then a wash and some polish to tidy up.

Personally I think its naff to debadge a base model car, but my 3.0 M3 Saloon and E500 Merc were both debadged to disguise their cost and performance from your standard scroat.

Anyone know where I can get some original replacement badges from? I'm after a "6" and a "0".

Buy a 630i badge?

The styles differ between years though, what is the full badge you need?

I'm after the 760i badge. For the E65/66 shape. Any ideas where I can get the whole badge or parts of it? At the moment I've got 745i.

You could try www.fabdirect.com .... there's an E66 760iL being broken up at the moment, but sod's law says it's debadged. Worth a call though, I would've thought....

Debadged I'm afraid! Thanks for trying though.

Would I be able to get the badge from my local BMW dealer? Or would I have to prove to them that I had a 760i first?

Thanks

But will they sell one to me, even though I don't have a 760i?

Why do you want to badge a 745i as a 760i?
