You know the ones, great big long things, with a million "buckles". Would these be any good for commuting? I have pretty skinny legs, and my leathers/textiles have little protection in them and my boots are ok, but the old shin bone is a little exposed. I hit it against the footpeg the other day and nearly passed out!
So now I'm thinking about getting some of these. I've seen one or two people wear them and thought what a good idea.

Thoughts anyone?

Alwight Chilli,
I've got a pair of these..

Hein Gericke Taureg

not quite motoX boots, but similar. They do a damn fine job, as comfy as a pair of trainers, and tough as old boots.. (errrm, sorry 'bout that...). They're gore-tex, have loads of protection.. they've taken hits from quite a few rocks and stones with no damage to either my skinny little legs or the boots themselves..

Highly recommended

ETA - have just gone back on the H-G website where I got the pic from, and they've suddenly disappeared!! They've recently been discontinued, but were dropped in price from about £120-130 to about £70 or £80. Some shops might still have them???

BTW, HTH!

You could use them but try em on sitting on your bike...I had a pair of sidi moto x boots when i used to do enduros and green laning, I wouldnt consider riding a road bike with them as the thick sole and metal embalishments made them heavy and didnt offer no where near enough "feel" on the brake , the chunkiness of the boot also made gear changes awkward, not as much clearence 'tween peg and lever, making it easy to go up the box accidently.

They feel like you could kick over a tree in them thou!

As above, I've got a pair of alpine stars that you could kick through a wall in, but I would have thought they'd be difficult to ride a sports bike in and you'd certainly have to adjust the pegs / pedals to get enough clearance. Also, the soils of crosser boots are really stiff which when coupled with the high / stiff nature of the boot may make the uncomfortable on a sports bike.

But... easily solved, just bin the jap sports crap and get a proper bike!!! wink

Ditto above, if you want protection look at the daytona evos, youll need to try a pair on to appreciate the protection they offer. But what price your legs?

In line with the original post you can now get Daytona Evo Supermoto boots - best of both worlds, but wait 'til you see the price yikes

I was thinking more Supermoto. You know, MX boots, greenlaning, hedgehopping..

Whats that? It wasnt deliberate? Gosh, sorry

Well obviously... If we are talking about sports type bikes, there is one big Italian V twin in my garage! But... as I'm not really a sports bike fan I was think of something that has no plastic on it at all, lots ofmettal that can dent and the paint can age, prefably British and oldish...

Just deciding what bike to add to my little collection now... Down to either a Bonnie with a few extra, an enfield - which I love but worried it might be just a bit too slow or a Ural combination, which is the coolest bike in th world! smile

Try Trials boots. They still have protection but it is at a lower level than MX boots and the sole is designed to allow "feel" and grip pretty well as when you "foot" you want it to be the only dab you make.
