Best Place for insurance for newley passed biker

How the fk did you manage that, if you don't mind me asking!?!?
I got 2 quotes yesterday, one from go-compare on a gixxer-6 and one from Carole Nash on a CBR-6 and both came in at over £1k!
I'm 27, recently passed (Monday in fact) with two 2 year old SP30s.
I was expecting £750ish but over £1k is taking the michael, to the point where I'm thinking I might as well not have bothered getting my license.....(that may have had something to do with me spitting my dummy out 5yo stylee )

I passed in March, but have been riding since 18 -125s etc.
Just bought a K8 GSXR, i used express insurance - phone them up as they are Rizla Suzuki's sponsors & do awesome deals for Suzuki owners.
3 years NCB Quote came in @ £925 FC but Suzuki paid the first £500 so i paid £425 FC with a years breakdown cover.
Other than that use the Tesco comparer.
It was a lot cheaper for me than anywhere else using them!

Hmm, Bennets are worth a shot.
28years old, just passed, 6 points (both SP30) 1 accident (in the car)in the last 5 years.
£150 TPFT bike with bike unsecured on driveway. (bike does have a thatcham alarm and imob though)
buts thats for a F650GS which isn't the most desirable of bikes among the thieving community.

There's your answerIs it being parked on the road or garage? Being a member of the BMF can also knock a bit off
I'm 22 also....
Try the Tesco comparer.
Best quote i got was £710 with them for a brand new K8 Fully comp.
Just go to google type in tesco insurance comparer or something.
It obvisouly affects you where you live, where you keep the bike etc etc.
My first quote after i'd passed my test for my Thundercat was £410 TPFT.

The bike would be garaged and the area I live in can't be the reason for high insurance as the Mrs and myself insure our cars cheap enough.
Like I said, I wasn't expecting it to be cheap being a newb but even compared to the guys above ^^^ my quotes seem to be coming in a bit high!?
I even tried a quote on a Duc Monster just to see if something other than a sports bike would make a difference but Bennetts said they couldn't give me am online quote, which to me says £££££!!
I'll give Tesco Compare a try as suggested but failing that, it looks like no bike for me until 2009!!

As above, looking at gsxr600 cbr600 etc.
could get a price of 350 TPFT which was not too bad. wondering how much everyone else is though.
27. 0 NCB just got bike licence. 03 CBR600RR about 550 TPFT. I could forget about insuring it fully comp. Hopefully it will go down next year. Not garaged. It was >200 saving to take theft off though, but that just told me they must get stolen a lot!could get a price of 350 TPFT which was not too bad. wondering how much everyone else is though.

So the general advice would be to either suffer a snotter or a smaller bike for a year to get some NCB and then start looking at SP1/2s!? Especially as, by that time the SP30s will have expired!!
How about an old FZR750 or something.....:runs off to scour ebay:

Bennets are cheap for a reason. After having an accident earlier this year you are better off putting the money in a fire than dealing with them.In all seriousness they do NOTHING for the money, ended up having to arrange everything myself, pickup of the bike, which garage it was going to, insurance assessor, getting the helmet/leathers cover sorted. It took bloody months for a small scrape and so glad I had a second bike.
Finally had to raise a complaint via the Financial Ombudsman to get it finished in the end. It was the first time that anyone had rang me back when they got that letter.
That was fully comp, so god knows how bad less cover is!
