As I recall, the manual for my car ('94L 400) says the fuel tank can hold 55 litres.

However, I've never managed to get more than 45 in, even when the gauge is below the red and the light has been flashing for ages.

Is the manual wrong, or is my gauge being cautious?

Anything that uses voltage in a TVR cannot be taken too seriously

My money is on the tank.

Mine's a 94 and my light flashes as I corner once the tank is less than three quarters full. Just for the record my manual says 57 litres, but once my light's on almost permanently I get about 45 litres in.

Most I ever got into mine (57 litre or 12.something gallon tank is the spec) was 53 litres, which means there was around a gallon still in there (at 4.54 litres = 1 gallon). Needle was just edging below the empty mark but at least I know it's accurate!

I reckon though that this means there's probably an inaccessible half gallon of petrol at the bottom of the tank when it finally riuns out of fuel, which mine never has.

The light is in the fuel guage itself (an orange LED).. between half and empty on a 93-95(?) model

Does anyone enlarge these tanks to give more range - the boot space would take it?

Could be that it just doesn't work!

Ah well, I think I'll attempt the drive home from work tonight, based on what I've read. Someone (no names) stuck an Ayrton's worth of Texaco non-super in the other day, so I'm trying to drain the tank of that and will then fill up with Optimax as normal.

Frankly, the guages are so iffy I just go by the trip meter - once I hit 250, I'm looking for petrol!
