This story was on the HonestJohn forum from the car's owner for about 10 mins before the mods edited all the dealer names out, then deleted the whole thread. rofl

He wrote in that thread that Audi UK told him it was nothing to do with them. Seems the press's intervention has produced a more considered response. rolleyes

I guess that why the article says an Audi dealer in Bexley.
I think its great he has had a go. I have suspected things like this go on and it appears that they may have been caught fair and square.
We will see how confident Audi are that the data was in conclusive as they would surely take action for slander if they thought they could prove it.

The guy has got his car stored for 10 days for FREE because he probably didn't want to pay for airport parking!

It's been started 27 times? Well, when my RS6 was at a dealer for 7 days waiting for parts they moved it in and out of the workshop each day rather than leave it sat outside overnight to be stolen. So out of the 10 days, that's at least 2 starts a day just to move it from overnight secure storage to the car park and back every day.

Probably got started 5-6 times during the service / workshop movements including a 3-5 mile test drive.

If someone used it and drove all of say 10 miles at an alleged 30-60 miles an hour then that's about 10 mins of road use out of 10 days? Has it occurred to him that the dealership did him a favour by giving it a proper drive and warm up rather than 10 straight days of cold starts?!

It's got fingerprints on it?! The guy needs to get a fking life and should send the dealer a letter thanking them for storing his car at no charge.

And if I was the dealer I'd offer him a free valet and send an invoice for the storage charge - £50 per day should cover it. I'd also circulate his reg number to all other local dealers so they can tell him to feck off when he wants a service.

What exactly does he want out of this?! My guess is he wants some money or freebies, and the dealers 'inadequate' response (his words) was to apologise and explain exactly as above.

Cock of the highest order.

Oops...I got it wrong. boxedin

It was a different Audi complaint that was deleted off the HJ website.

I take it you can get your RS6 booked in at anytime you request? The real proof would be from his Tracker fitted to his car which Audi will be reviewing very carefully before they make any statements. If I was in his shoes with my RS4 i would be going to town with them. And as for the COCK comment I think you are bang out of order.

No, I phone them up and ask what's available. And then I pick a day that they have available and get my car serviced on that day.

I would love to know exactly what the guy wants? 16 miles at 40p per mile maybe? A box of kleenex to wipe off some fingerprints? The reason he's not phoned a lawyer is he knows that any court in the country would just tell him to get a life and probably not even award his costs. To go to a newspaper is the lowest of the low.

Had he come back and the battery was flat due to repeated cold starts to put it away at night would he have also complained and run to a journalist with a great non-story about how the car was abused by not being driven?

I stand by my 'cock' comment based upon what I have read in the news story. I look forward to reading something that proves the news story wrong so I can retract my comment. However I did not mean he was a cock, just the whole situation was...

I've had excellent service from Audi, but I've also experienced shocking service from Audi and when I made a legitimate complaint they bent over backwards to fix it - both at dealer level and Audi UK.

Im sure the starting is not really an issue its he fact that it was used after hours and was driven at twice the speed limit. I would be furious and I think this guy should be congratulated for making a stand. The service at a vast majority of dealers is substandard and I for one have had damage to my car, useless communication, grubby marks left on my cars, swirl marks from them cleaning when I specifically asked them not to clean it, being left waiting for 20 minutes when taking a car in and a further 20 mins when picking a car up....the list goes on. If these places upped their game this rubbish would not happen. To say that the guy is being petty I find unbeleivable!!! Are you really saying that you wouldnt mind a stranger taking your car with out your permission and driving it at twice the speed limit??
I defy anyone who says that that is acceptable.

The only Cock here is you for making such a stupid comment.

If the owners story is correct, the dealer had no right to treat this mans car with such disrespect. What I find even more disgraceful is the excessive speed in a 30mph zone. I have experienced excellent service from my Audi dealer but this does not mean that I condone the actions of the dealer in question or Audi UK.

And if I was the dealer I'd offer him a free valet and send an invoice for the storage charge - £50 per day should cover it. I'd also circulate his reg number to all other local dealers so they can tell him to feck off when he wants a service.

Having read the owners own story rather than the news report it seems that the car was indeed driven out of hours which is out of order.

However, what exactly does he want to happen about an extra 16 miles? He's obviously after money and thought he could get it by talking to a newspaper.

And David911RSR - thanks for calling me a cock. rolleyes I called the situation cock, not the person - which according to what I could read and the information at the time was a fair description. But hey, you go ahead and feel free to make this all personal with someone you've never met...

I think his point is not so much the 16 miles, but issue of how much (little?) mechanical sympathy was shown during those miles?

I think the newspaper action was justified to teach the dealership a lesson in customer service after being given the brush off.

I'm sure the car will survive it's extra 16 miles of enthusiastic use with speeds of 60 mph. It is designed to do that, after all.

The speeding on a public highway is a police matter, but only if the device used to measure and record the speed is approved.

Despite the oily fingerprint issue (which is easily fixable) I think the owner is being a touch precious here. I guess he'd be better off finding alternative servicing/long term parking arrangements in future.

yes

Its a performance car (alegedly) so how much harm is being done to the car at 60?

Still cheaper that 10 days airport parking!
If he is that precious about his car why not wait at the dealership while its service?

Whinging cock!

Whats all this bullsh*t about airport parking??

If he got a courtesy car he would have had to park that at the airport. Unless RS4's somehow get charged extra? wink

Or he could have left the RS4 at home, where it wouldn't have been caned down 30mph roads at 60mph.
