rs4 avant sale advice
Discussion
Hi
I would be grateful for any advice on getting a semi-decent price for my RS4
I am keen to be out of the car this month as I intend to buy a new car next month and have a GT-R coming in May so too many toys.
It's the best car that I have ever owned and someone will get a bargain.
Does anybody have any helpful suggestions as to how to get the best value on this?
many thanks
James

Sell it privately! I would be grateful for any advice on getting a semi-decent price for my RS4

Put it for sale on here or on autotrader.
Price is absolutely key at the moment, anyone who's buying knows what is competitive. A grand or two can be the difference between no calls & a number.
Also make the effort on the advert (lots of pics, description).
Good luck, its not easy

I'd add rs246.com classifieds to that list too. Put it for sale on here or on autotrader.
Good luck with the sale.
And I hope the GT-R doesn't disappoint too much after the RS.
Guys
Thanks for the advice. Sorry, I did try and post a link but will try again.

rs246 is a good suggestion, thank you.
Hmmm, could be time to find a non-franchised dealer who will swap for some prime pork. Any suggestions here would be v helpful.
GMK - I think the GT-R is under threat having driven it on the drive day (the 350Z was far more fun) and having talked with a number of drivers who I respect about it...
cheers anyway

Damn!
I looked at your RS long and hard before I bought this B5 RS4 Avant advertised on here a while ago.

If you'd dropped the price sooner I might have been sorely tempted...
Do give it a good clean or hire someone to do it for you. Look at many of the other cars for sale on here - they are absolutely spotless and gleaming.
Some more pics of the interior would be nice too.

Just some general advice ... I sold my 996 a month or so ago (o.k. so it's not an audi, and there are more of them around than RS4s) and received more interest from advertising in the local print, than on PH.
Don't assume once you have it on the major internet players websites that you have all bases covered, I would recommend trying the local press as well.
Additionaly lots of people that will see the web adverts, will also see ebay and off-line auction prices (not sure how much that applies to RS4s) that can set their price expectations unrealistically low.

I'd want to know:
- the full list of extras, list them (and their original cost)
- no. of owners
- service history, where and when
- more interior pics are a must (of seats etc) - it looks like you've got buckets, but you don't mention it or say it.
- where originally bought from, when you got it etc.
Really, anything that gives the buyer more detail when buying a car like this is good, and shows that you are knowledgeable about the car, have looked after it, etc. For me, the more the better really (both words and photos), but maybe that's me.
I'm half-looking at the moment, and to be honest your advert doesn't show enough for me to get interested (price isn't enough!). Don't mean to sound harsh, just trying to be constructive! Hope that helps?

Thank you for your advice. It was up for a month with a book of information on it and I got 2 enquiries.
Now I have taken some decent pics (thanks to mr gmk) and given the main gen. and have had about 8 emails this week. I think you're right about the buckets though and I will add them in.
I would always provide full information to anyone looking seriously but a lot of what you list I don't think you need to know to make a further enquiry if you're serious. Feel free to contact me directly if you are.
It has been well looked after and I think I know what I'm talking about so sorry if that didn't come over.
best

No bother, I was really responding to your original post (what can I do to help sell?) rather than actually asking for this info, as I'm only tentatively looking at present / browsing the classifieds, but just thought that if I wanted this info then maybe others might also want to know it. Seems like you've done OK anyway this week, so best of luck with the sale.
