Anyhow found out a couple of the HT leads wher pinned in behind the alternator.
Antyhow after taking the alternator of to get to the two leads of which one was badly damaged and insulation stripped?? i found this other lead pinned behind the Alternator(see pics) anyone know what it may be for has it fallen off something(cant see anything)

Hi BB seen got one of these on mine! so did beano500 but his melted on the exhaust. I checked with Fernies at the time and they told me it's a (cant remember whats it's for) but it's somthing to do with the Land Rover setup, and is redundant on the TVR.

Found a couple of pics

Cheers Al and Apache, no AC no problem most unused connectors seem to tied up nicely this was flapping about after i took the Alternator off.

Can any of you confirm the part number for the Temperature Guage sensor, im i right in thinking it looks like a long Brass nut with a spade connector on the end going into Engine block behind the dizzy. or is this the actuall Temperture sensor??

It's looking goog for a proper support vehicle ... so flash cooler and 2 kegs of Fosters plus branded gazeebo's, shirts etc etc

Was going to get the tickets through the TVRCC, but if that's going to be an issue may need to organise some other way ...

Hey Big AL thats a lovely clean engine bay you've got there. Must be time for me to start up my under-bonnet-sprucing-weekend once again.

Replaced mine a couple of months ago - it's the temperature sensor for the engine management system. The code for it is on the black plastic. I just took mine to the local Lucas parts distributor and they got one in next day. It's cheaper getting it from Lucas than from TVR - it was £30 - ish I think.
The bible is spot on with the resistance readings it should show so if you have one of those electronic gizmos from Maplins (£14) which tell you temperature and resistance you can check it, and the fuel temperature sender - and the lambda probes etc etc (it was a LONG weekend!) and save money by not replacing unfaulty items
Hope this helps

The sensor with a single brass stud drives the temp gauge, there should be another sensor close by which has a fancy latching connector just like the injector ones, which is the ECU coolant temp sensor. Both sensors should be screwed into the water jacket in the front of the inlet manifold, but there are half a dozen different bosses on this and no consistency about which ones are used.

There is a "spare" connector that is in the vicinity of the alternator as other people have testified. However I don't think my spare connector looks like that. That looks exactly like the connector in the Lambda sensors cables. There is one about 12 inches from the lambda sensor (on each side) and IIRC, another about between the rocker cover and the plenum chamber (x2 on the drivers side).

Hopefully I'm wrong but it might be worth tracing the lambda cables back.

Cheers Pete thought it was the Temp guage sensor as the guage isnt working and the spade connector on this one had corroded/broke off.

AS for the loose wire i am pretty sure it is just a spare as the lamba ones are all there.
