That doesn't round it just changes the format - so you can create column of numbers that don't add up to the total as the sum function will use the original value rather than the formatted value.Tuscan Tart said:

you could do that but that's rounding up the answer not the inputs - it's not the same thing (maybe that's what the OP meant but ti thought he wanted to round up the inputs not the answer)if you want to just round the answer the syntax is:
=round(sum(a1:a2),1)
or the equiv roundup function

Sometimes it does.If he's then doing a calculation on the result the calculation wouldn't take the rounded up value just because it looks rounded on the screen.
