James May's Cars of the People
Discussion
James May’s new mini series. Really looking forward to this. Sun 10 Aug 2014 at 21:00 BBC Two
Episode 1 of 3
In his quest to discover how we the people got our wheels, James travels to Germany, Italy and Russia to reveal the extraordinary story of how dictators kickstarted the mobilisation of the masses.
It is a tale of design brilliance, abject failure, war, fraud and double dealing featuring some of the best (and worse) cars and characters of the 20th century. James discovers how the British motor industry blew a gift-wrapped chance to rule the world and he gets his own back with a stunt that means bad news for one of the planet's most hated cars.

May has done some great TV stuff on his tod, as has Clarkson. Far far better than the crap on top gear. Can't see them giving up top gear though when so many people like it.
It would be like telling McDonald's to stop making food because it's crap or telling the spice Girls to quit when they were cashing it in.

I think all 3 of the TG presenters are great but are better on their own. Clarkson and May have certainly been involved in some of the more entertaining bits of boys own TV that appeals to the enthusiast.
The gifted always have their knockers and it tends to be they who are the real tits.
I am looking forward to this latest piece with May in it.

No matter how good the subject May always manages to make it boring
Agreed. Plus he looks like a tramp. Ffs, you're on national TV man, get your hair cut, run a comb thru it and iron your shirt. I'm not asking for much, just a bit a effort in return for a pretty decent salary.

Hammond's the one I'll avoid, even if the subject matter appeals. Everything that he presents appears to have been dumbed down.
Yep - I agree. He's fine when he's with the other two - but rather weaker when presenting alone.Clarkson and May however always seem to produce great programs.
One of my absolute favourites: Nobody except Clarkson could have told the story quite as well as he did IMO.
