Ever met your namesake?
Discussion
I went to rent a van to move house a number of years ago, the paperwork was out on the desk already filled in, the rental bloke was on a call.
Next thing, this bloke moves in front of me & starts messing wih my paperwork (even had my name on it!). Turns out in a small town of c8000 people there were two of us with the same name, in the same place at the same time renting vans to move house.
Luckily we weren't moving next to each other!
Must be other similar stories out there?

Not so much "met" but one of my guys e-mailed a canvassing interview offer for a job (LinkedIn) to someone with the same name as me and it turned out that he too owned a very similar company, who was of a similar age and from a similar area.
Nice to know that your competitors have the same name!

I worked in an office with a guy with the exact same name as me. When he joined it crashed my emails as they somehow had two email accounts with the same name. He's a really nice guy and a relatively popular journalist and I get a lot of random football abuse tweets from people who think I am him. I hate football.
I thought I was unique in terms of my name, and if you include my middle name I'm certain that I still am. However, I've just Googled myself and within the last three months someone with the same name has set up a LinkedIn profile. Oddly though, the business he represents only features the first part of his surname, so maybe he recently got married and decided to hyphenate. Damn him.
Still, makes it that much easier to blend in to the background online should I choose to I suppose...

No, but my parents went on holiday to St. Lucia and staying in the same hotel as them was someone with my dad's full name who lived about 5 miles from them. Very small world.
When we were expecting our second daughter we got sent the wrong blood results for another lady whose full name matched my wifes. Her daughter ended up going to the same school as ours and was in the same class, but not related in any way.
