P90x training DVDs....
Discussion
I was in USA recently and this was all over the TV, along with "Insanity" and "Turbofire!" But anyone heard of or tried this P90x regime? Its a Tony Horton intensive 90 day program and some internet sources says it really does work. But I am sceptical. It looks dead hard, but fancy having a go at it if it will help me shed some pounds and trim up.
Like the idea that you dont need much stuff to do it, and I can take the dvds with me when I travel away with work to do in hotel rooms! Most of it seems to be just excercises without equipment.
So any ideas?

A mate of mine does it and it's worked wonders for him. This is a bloke by no means unfit (he's done his green beret commando course, although a few years ago now)
He does a combination of P90X, a lot of which seems to involve a very wide variety of training, but a lot of pliometrics, and spinning.
He was never particularly overweight, just average build but very physically fit. Then he did P90x - 3 months later, most of his clothes are dropping off him and he's seriously ripped, hardly any body fat on him.
Depends on what you want I suppose. It's certainly quite a ninja workout.

I ve put on a thread like this before about the Insanity workout, have not done the one the OP mentions but now take Insanity in some of my classes and really is a beast, i do it alongside my other training and have just learnt the exercises to put into sessions. Would never recommend buying a dvd for fitness but really good although got mine of e bay for 40 squid.
something funny ive always wondered about p90x
its advertised the same as all the scammy workout stuff and miracle equipment which will get you "ABZ IN 7 DAYS!!!"
although its a very good program with a big following.
although i made the mistake of it being "Easy" or "not to intensive" which i was wrong
it is a very hard program and demands alot of work, but a downside is the nutrion side is in american measurements and the whole nutrion part i found confusing.

The key thing about all these training regimes is that when it's in the DVD rack collecting dust, you won't lose weight.
Very true , unfortunatly it also doesn't happen overnight. Lots of people on the P90x forum find that body weight doesn't change BUT fat percentage drops and lean muscles rises so cancel each other out.started P90x on Monday. Ignoring the diet/nutrition side of things, as I'm 6'4" and less than 10 stone.
I will say this is not for beginners. You need to know how to perform the exerscises, especially with something like the Yoga. I spent more time working out what he was doing than actually following the program.

And thus hopefully they realise that weight doesn't mean much on its own.lawrence567 said:
I'm just starting p90x. My grind started it last week, he's doing it religiously and he's lost 6lbs in a week! No idea where from as he's not very big already. I however have a shade over 15st to lose so I'll post before during and after photos if you like!
Do it - although with 15st to lose, make sure you aren't starting too hard, too fast. lawrence567 said:

One of my friends has done it and the results have been impressive. Mind you, if she had stuck to any other fitness routine, she would also have got similar results...I'm on week 2 of p90x and I can already see and feel the results. Before that I did Insanity so I was already trim after all the cardio.
Must admit it took a few sessions to get into, he doesn't always explain the moves so the first time round can be a bit confusing. In Insanity they are explained a bit more.
I was a bit sceptical at first, following a DVD workout but I must admit it is quite addictive, you know exactly what you have to do and you feel compelled to keep up too.
The only difficulty is fitting in a workout everyday.
I didn't bother following their nutrition plans just ate more healthily.

What's your opinion of Insanity after doing it for the 60days? I'm contemplating doing it as I don't really want to shell out for the equipment needed for p90x.Must admit it took a few sessions to get into, he doesn't always explain the moves so the first time round can be a bit confusing. Just make up your own routine and stick to it religiously.
Here, I picked a video at random:

Do all of that without the kit. Keep repeating until you start to cry or vomit. Repeat in 2 days' time. When it gets easy, increase to 60 then 90.
