People need to accept the decision.
Why?It already appears they haven't. I thought Americans were quite keen on the idea that the governers should have the consent of the governed.
How can this not be considered superior to a prosecutor, part of the "governers", making the decision on his / her own?
Unfortunately, people can't comprehend this over there, and as a collective, behave in the manner we've been witnessing. It has parallels with Mark Duggan; a perfectly lawful shooting with a "community" unwilling to attribute any blame to the person who was shot.
There is a broader context here with income inequalities at an all time high and falling mobility that is causing huge tensions. So called reality TV and social media slavishly following the privileged lives of the rich and famous combined with drops in the standard of living at the middle and bottom of the society are creating a powder keg. There is always a danger that these riots could get way out of control. Regardless of the facts surrounding the case, its what people believe that determines the next phase.

I doubt that Holder had anything to do with it. I agree that the verdict in open court may have been the same but a grand jury is not transparent at all. We don't even know if it was unanimous, it could have been 7-5 for all we know. A trial in open court would have allowed everyone to watch events unfold and observe justice in action. This took place behind closed doors and may give the impression of being a cover up, even if it's not.unrepentant said:
No question whatsoever that the prosecutor ducked his responsibility by handing this off to a grand jury. Whatever the eventual outcome was to be this case needed to be handled with transparency and that does not happen when you utilize a secret and outmoded vehicle such as this. It's worth noting that grand juries are no longer used anywhere else in the world and in less than half the states now.
It is regrettable that agitators, acting against the wishes of the Brown family and civic leaders, have been given this platform for violence and destruction by the actions of a feeble and cowardly prosecutor.
I think that the prosecutor was told by Eric Holder that a Grand Jury was required required to ensure transparency. If the case went to trial the outcome would likely be the same. Skim reading a lot of stuff, but it seems the officer in question shot an unarmed man.
From reading what i can gather is the officer stopped the unarmed man, some sort of altercation happened where the officer was assaulted & was grappling with the deceased, deceased went for officers gun, officer pulls his gun & for whatever reason shoots him.
There's more than likely a hell of a lot more detail here, however if the 'races' were switched around & a black officer shot a white man would there be all of this uproar?

Meanwhile, Brown's step father, Louis Head, jumped up and down in rage, screaming: 'Burn this b**** down! Burn this b**** down!'
Minutes earlier as Miss McSpadden listened to the decision being read out she shouted: 'What was he (Wilson) defending himself from? 'Some of you motherf****** think this is a joke!' "

Wow, just wow...'blacks'.
As opposed to what?If the lefty pc brigade could see their way clear to sticking with one set of terminology it'd help the rest of us.
I mean to cause no offence due to someone's skin colour, so I used the terms dictated: First it was black, then it became un-pc and the term to use was coloured, which became un-pc and was replaced once again with black.
If a group of white skinned people can be referred to as whites, and they are often referred to by various black luminaries, what prey tell is wrong with the previous poster calling a group of people with black skin blacks? And what term should have been used?
Confusion reigns.

Near around this time, a black officer shot a white unarmed teen (in Florida I believe). Tell me, did you hear about that? The smallish cop was defending himself from the asault of a 6'4" 300lb man that was, as evidence now shows, in the front seat of the cruiser beating the cop. That will get you shot everytime. Meanwhile, Brown's step father, Louis Head, jumped up and down in rage, screaming: 'Burn this b**** down! Burn this b**** down!'

The lad was shot and left in the street dead for four hrs.
The "lad" had just robbed a convenience store, assaulting the owner and then assaulted a police officer who had stopped to ask why he and his fellow convicted robber (who's 'evidence' the initial riot was based on) were walking in the middle of the street. There is some suggestion that the "lad" was attempting to take the officers side-arm during the altercation. The 6'5" 300lb "lad" who'd attacked two people in the space of 5 minutes was left in the street due to the large baying crowd of fellow "lads" (and "lasses") making it too dangerous for authorities to return and recover his body.
The professional agitators were in place in major cities around parts of the country. The protests there will fizzle out in a day or two, especially if the cold weather sets in. The destruction in Ferguson will go on a bit more as Al Sharpton and his kind stoke the flames a while longer. Soon, it will get colder, people will decide they are hungry and realize that they destroyed the places to obtain food and will scream for the government to come and save them. Then, tax $$$ will be spent to build them a shiney new neighborhood to burn down at a future date; all will then be normal.

Wilson is 6'4, 210 and presumably trained in self defence. Brown was 6'5 and 280. A little perspective.Gassing Station | News, Politics & Economics | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
