Massive kudos for Surface and Design and DC Trim. I’ve just come to the end of a “nuts and bolts resto”. Powers 4.3 rebuild, body off chassis restoration, retrim and respray in cascade violet. Picked her up from Bristol Avenue today..... I couldn’t believe the excellent standard of work. Truly jaw dropping. I can’t recommend enough Powers Performance, Surface and Design and DC Trim. I’m almost scared to drive it now.laugh

It was eye watering! But the Tuscan was always my dream car even more so than a T350 or Sagaris. I’ve owned it for over 12 years and am lucky enough now to be in a position to make it as good as it can possibly be and specced exactly how I want it.
There is no doubt that T-cars are appreciating classics, so money well spent (man maths moment! laugh).

eek indeed!

Still, does look good and I hope the OP enjoys.

A mate of mine managed to get an insurance claim to (mostly) fund loads of bodywork, respray etc for his old triumph and it looked immaculate and amazing. Sold it within a year as he was always worried driving it and parking it somewhere.

Tremendous colour combo. Well done for being brave.

I can work out what it costs and don’t think it is expensive. For the same money you could have got diesel German hatchback. It’s a no brainer. You’re going to feel like a million dollars when you drive it and everyone who sees and hears you is going to have a better day a result.

Top marks.

Indeed, that's the beauty of them, you can turn them into effectively brand new cars (at better quality than the factory managed) for half the price of a Boxster if you're already fully paid off in the first place. Looks fab.

That is beautiful, my Tuscan is still in good order but if it wasn’t that is exactly what I would do. I am sure it was a lot of money but what else is out there that goes as well and looks that good? Unless of course you spend in excess of 100k. Well done!

That looks absolutely stunning, great choice of colour clap

I'll understand if you don't want to go into the specifics of the cost - however much it was, looking at the photos I'd say it was worth every penny! Purely as a hypothetical question though, if one was looking to have similar work done minus the engine rebuild (i.e. body off chassis refurb, respray and retrim), do you think a budget of 15k would be sufficient? Asking for a friend... wink

I suppose it depends on where you go and what you replace whilst the body is off. In my case I pretty much replaced everything except the diff. I think you need to budget for 8-10 K for the chassis refurb.
For the retrim, again it depends on what spec, budget 3-5 K.
Respray costs (without paint) 4-5 K. The cost of paint varies hugely from less than £100 per litre up to £500 per litre for “flip” paints. You’ll need 4-5 litres for a Tuscan.

Thanks, that's interesting to know - I was aware the "flip" paints were more expensive, but wasn't sure by how much! Having spent a metric f***ton on the mechanicals in my two years of ownership (more than the purchase price of the car already!), I feel I should probably wait a bit and let my bank balance recover before thinking about a respray and retrim, but they're the two jobs at the top of my wish-list. I was thinking of a colour change to reflex charcoal, but seeing those photos of yours has given me a dilemma cloud9

I have just had a body off chassis refurb including hot zinc spray and 2 pack finish. Had many other items done at the same time, well the car was in pieces so it makes sense and I didn't get close to that figure.

Money well spent, looks awesome. Enjoy the coming summer months in it. Are you planning to get the paint protected? PPF or such? Had my Tuscan done at S&D last year and had front end protected (glad i did)

Fantastic and very brave, well done op.

I’ve been thinking of a complete refurb for my 2002 Chim 500 which I’ve owned from new. Wonder what that would cost? scratchchin

About 22k hehe

Had new paint by S&D and Trim by DC which came to 12k, now it looks like it needs a bit of chassis work which has been quoted at 10K

Or long term keepers, i’ve had the Chimaera for 14 years now, no plans on getting rid of it in the future. Bang for buck I would say it’s not bad.
