Someone stole my green 1969 MGC-GT (was my grandfather's)
Discussion
Got back from work today to find it missing from Purley/Kenley driveway, must have gone at some point overnight on 24th Feb or day of 25th Feb.
More info and pictures tomorrow.

- MGC, so straight six.
- British racing green.
- I inherited it from my much missed grandparents, so massive sentimental value.
- Engine had BMW fuel injectors & microsquirt ECU, probably the only fuel injected MGC in the UK. I can identify every individual component in the whole car.
- I personally retrimmed the car in black leather with white piping.

Might as well post the number plate - at least that way if someone is offered the car and Googles it, this thread might come up.
Best of luck and, as others have said, leverage the power of social media. Get in touch with the local press, get it posted on every car group you can think of, and a few buy/sell pages on Facebook too. The mantra of making it "too hot to handle" has gotten results before, so it's worth the time. I'd do it ASAP.

VIN/Chassis GCD1-6007
Engine 29G-RU-H4000
Other recognisable features;
- Trigger wheel on flywheel for Microsquirt ECU timing
- Microsquirt ECU above passenger footwell
- 6 injectors & fuel rail above inlet manifold
- Throttle position sensor on carb butterfly axle
- Ford EDIS coil pack (no distributor cap)
- Repair to underside of sill front castle section on driver's side (right hand drive)
- New wings sikaflex bonded rather than welded; may be slightly separating from sill
- Passenger's side lock removed (bodgy temporary fibreglass blob to cover hole)
- Picnic basket in back!
I second that
My hope is that it's been picked up by a chancer; anyone who knows these cars will know it'll be almost impossible to change its identify, either in the UK or worldwide. Even the engine has identifiable marks all over it (and I won't say what they are!).
I'll try to get the word out over the local area. Apparently cars often get parked not too far away for a couple of weeks to see if they've got trackers in them. So if you know anyone in Croydon, especially garages or dealers, please let me know.

You know all this but;
- check whether anyone in your road has CCTV
Sorry to hear this OP. This ^ looks like worthwhile advice. Walk/drive around your area looking out for anyone with CCTV or at properties/business with a strategic location that could've seen a transport vehicle or anything suspicious and ask if they have CCTV in the time frame in question.- check whether anyone in your road has CCTV
