I went for a 9+23 (yes I know that’s more exposure)

10k at £428.

8k at £407

Can’t decide which. But leaning towards 10K.

Personal lease so inc VAT.

My family member has a limited co but I thought it wasn’t worth the faff.

I was going to spend £25K on a second hand 1.3 engine MB CLA, now I’m spending c. £13k and taking advantage of the allowance at work , chucked the other other 12 towards my deposit for a flat and am driving a brand new big Merc. Man maths anyone ??? It’s my first lease so hopefully I am making the right decision?

That’s also the terms I would go for. It is way too much for me, especially for a pre reg car so I don’t see it as much of a deal. If you like it though then why not as you clearly have got a better vehicle than what you were going to get

It seems the real world range of an EQC was around 190 miles in 2020, I don’t know if software updates would have changed that, it’s not a bother for me as I will only be driving around town, and around Central London, something to take into account though if you frequently do long trips.

First impressions of a dealer demo, it is very plush inside, definitely feels more premium than the GLC it’s based on. Spec is good, but it’s not massive. Which is a plus again for me. I’d say it is somewhere in-between a Tesla Model Y and an Audi e Tron in size. I was denied a test drive though because I came clean and admitted I had leased it. He was never going to take me serious either way due to my age.

I had a Renault Zoe for 7 weeks, that had a slightly better range of around 210 miles IRL. I drove it from London to the Gower in Wales and the range was not an issue. I stopped once in Newport for a quick top up and I was good to go.

80% charge on a rapid charge in the EQC takes an hour and 20 mins from flat. And Autotrader says a 30 mile top up takes 11 minutes.

So admittedly not great in 2023 but if you forego the poor range and you just want a premium executive family car for daily driving then this does the job so long as you don’t have to drive mega miles. Luckily for me I am only visiting sites around London and thereafter based from home.

If you had to travel more than 75 miles one way I would be looking at a diesel.

Well that Merc deal sounds a bit more like it!
Might be a sign of better leases to come.
Only if you want unwanted electric car.
which in itself no longer means it's unwanted.

Probably not what floats people's boats on here lol but submitted paperwork for the C4 electric at £199 a month 9+23 on 8k miles.

20 mile daily commute so will be ideal for work and I've not paid for a car for about 5 years as ran my old one into the ground

Really just a cheapish way of giving the EV game a try

Considering getting one of these for my wife to replace a leased Qashqai that goes back next year. Hoping there will still be deals around as the current ones all seem to be stock cars.

I'm still debating going for this (providing there are any left now) but the low range is putting me off slightly. I do 250-300 miles a week so would only have to charge it twice a week. However a lot of reviews say 150 miles average in the winter which is pretty poor if you need to travel a longer distance.

A lot of car for the money though!

Interesting deal. What colour options did they have available when you signed the deal?

Decent choice. Take it all the colour options were free? Have you checked the service costs on this over the two years?

Ive sent a proposal request to Comparison but just looking at whether the numbers work for me as a quick check for the insurance puts it at £1200 pa despite 12yrs NCB, no points or accidents.

I take it the car doesn't come with any form of wall box charger discounts so that's another £1000 to think about.

No discounts on charge box. I have a Myenergi Zappi already though.

All colours are free, I went for black.

What’s the best way of explaining a lease to people?

My parents are heavily against it. They are trying to push me into insuring my 6 year old 330e at £6k or going for a personal loan on a second hand A3. Reasons being “I won’t have anything to show for it after 2 years”. And also because my car allowance can be used to run my existing car. They were against me buying the 330e in the first place so I’m used to it. New water pump needed soon, 4 new discs and pads, gearbox service etc.. it’s done 80k now.

Definitely not the best financial decision in the world but then no lease is. £500 sheds are the way to go if you want to spend as little as possible, but as a cheaper option than a boring old estate agent’s hatchback then why not ??

I already have 75% of my savings goal towards a 1 bed flat

Best explanation is total cost of ownership over particular period. You can compare cost of owning used car for 2-3 years including maintenance (and insurance in your case) against cost of lease and maintenance and insurance.

Around £4.2k

Yes its expensive but I am being stung regardless. Renewal on my current BMW 330e is near enough £6k. My old Polo 1.0 is coming up near enough £3k.
Have you tried moneysupermarket? Admiral is coming out cheaper than my current 530d. Other comparison sites and my current insurer are coming out high.

I am waiting on the EQC paperwork.

The difficulty and unknown is the depreciation on an owned car. Plus the opportunity cost of the funds tied up in it.

I prefer leasing as it’s fixed cost motoring (no unexpected repair bills) and you get a new car every 2/3 years.

But some people don’t get it and that’s fine - it’s not for everyone.

Has anyone gone for a used leased before? I've seen this below and is a good price for a top spec model vs PCP'ing a used one.

Only thing that's a concern is the warranty situation?

ETA: £2k down, £347/month, 10kpa

Wouldn’t do it for the reason you’ve stated. I’m sure repairs will be expensive on an electric car particularly if battery related.

The majority also offer stupid pricing with online quotes. For me it’s 2k ever since I was like 19 but in reality it’s always been £700 - £900momce negotiated with the insurance company. Luckily I was a named driver on my parents policy on an A5 then I became the main driver and prices dropped a lot by that point. Guess I got lucky when I see these prices being thrown around.

Hi,

I didn’t even know you could negotiate on these prices. Any tips for what to say? Every penny counts when I’m paying over £4K.

Yes Admiral were the cheapest on the EQC for me. It’s a bitter pill to swallow, I swore I would never deal with them again after they fked me over on a hit and run accident claim that has left me with lasting injuries

If you have multiple polciicies, house insurance, other cars in the family using same insurance etc it helps your case. If not then just make up stuff about what competitors are offering. Direct line do offer retention pricing. Some are forcing you to do eveything online though in the hope you pay the stupid pricing they come up with. It’s worth a try but absolutely do not rely on just the online price.
