Inclined to agree. There is a rather unloved one local one to me that still delivers an element of class. Despite the attention to detail given here, for which I applaud, the cosmetic changes sadly do it no favours whatsoever.But they have ruined this.

Agree XJS's are beginning to look more and more desirable these days, regardless of the antiquated underpinnings.
Ruined is a bit strong as I am sure it could be returned to nearer standard without too much pain.
I think individual elements mostly work but all together is a smidge much, for me the American headlamps are the thing I am least keen on, my mates slightly dodgy (but great fun) uncle had an XJS in the eighties with them, and that makes me think of him and his stint at HMP

Probably a controversial opinion, but I think the XJS is a nicer looking car. I also think it’s much better looking than the E-Type Lovejoy’s love interest in later series drove a convertible 4L
better looking than a series 3 E type? , perhaps ,by that stage modernity had murdered a master piece. ! but not better looking than a series 1 E type for sure

Well, I'm Ed at Shmoo Automotive Ltd, and by sheer coincidence, I took a deposit on the car on Saturday evening. Chap came to view it today at 2pm and it's all wrapped up and SOLD. As I said in the advert, I knew it would split opinions, and looking at all the comments here I would say I was correct.
Regarding the ride height, I can't say for certain about the 80mm, it's just something in the paperwork with the car. The arches had to be altered and different hubs fitted to allow the larger wheels and rubber to be accommodated. But, I can tell you it's rather low, as you'll see from some photos attached showing it at a show in late August. But it goes over sleeping policeman ok if you take your time.
If you scroll down to the videos on my website you'll see a 'video short' where I'm driving it, and you can hear the exhaust note, which is just right. It also handles nicely, with no crashing over potholes and not a stiff ride, and down a country lane it's a lot more fun compared to a standard XJS.
Yes, more power is always nice, but it has enough, and why would you want to blast past when you can burble past and give everyone time to take it in?
Generally, I'd say 75% of people love it, which is good enough for me, but like I said, I always knew it would create some fluster in the forums, and it has.

Here’s mine I sold 30 years ago to Forward Engineering for one of their customers who wanted an XJS to do an 7 litre engine swap from his Cougar.
When mine it was 5.3 V12 and had the suspension lowered and power flexed, exhaust straight through with just back boxes, Fondmetal alloys and a XJRS Le Mans interior.
Made a lovely sound at all speeds, acceleration was brisk and good to own but sold it to buy a red 1972 Porsche 911 RS for £16k which you could do in those days. Sold that for a small profit a year later after a grim divorce but followed it up with a succession of integrales. Also all red.

My XKR has turned from a 'quick tidy up over lockdown' project, to a full restoration and repaint. Might get finished next year.

Hey Steve,Thanks, and yes I do have a very varied stock, and if you take a gander at the 500 or so cars and bikes in the SOLD section you'll see that's always been the case. Glad you like it and feel free to find my Instagram and FB page under 'Shmoo Automotive' as anything that's on the radar tends to go on there first and the company website last as it's a bit of a labour of love-taking and editing all the photos and videos etc for the site.
