Police might not, but your insurer will. They’ll write to the Land Rover’s insurer and tell them what you’re alleging and then see what the response is. Tell your insurer that their numberplate was left at the scene. Then it’s up to the other driver to decide what they want to do now that they’ve been caught. Be very difficult to deny it if their car is in for repair
Repair, no it will likely be stolen, I can almost hear it now."OMG it's not there, it's been stolen,.... when did I last see it, right before.. erm.. Must have been... Before it was stolen!"
Am I missing something here? Surely the first point of contact for anything like this would be the Police? I can’t believe that they wouldn’t attend a demolished wall with parts of the vehicle left behind. Quite apart from the prospect of a certain conviction for the driver of at least one serious offence, there could well be other things tied in - an injured driver who has reasons not to go to hospital for example.

Had a similar situation a couple of years ago where our V90 was hit whilst parked and a kind stranger left us a note of who did it. The witness got the plate wrong by 1 digit but via here we identified the car which was one of the local Fire Service V60 Volvos. Insurers contacted them and they denied it. End of claim.
I’d have expected them to do more than that for the money they’ve taken this year, ditto you could have done a lot more to force your insurance company to do more. Mikebentley said:
Curious how you think I could have done anymore to force them to do more? Believe me we tried but the insurance company after the denial basically were only going to get it repaired against my insurance. They sent letters which went unanswered then when pushed made calls to the other parties insurance who replied that their customer denied it. That was the end of their efforts.
Well that’s piss poor. Surely they could have investigated more. You could have complained. At the very least you’d probably have got some “go away” money from your insurers like most companies give you when you complain. Just musings around what I’d have thought would have happened. And I expect exactly the same will happen with this one, unless the op thinks he is going to go postal on the car owners ass.

I have a history of successfully sorting out friends insurance claims
Last night I didn't have a full number plate, within 24 hours I have it and have called and emailed his insurers and know where he works

Let’s hope he doesn’t deny being the driver at the time.

I’d imagine if he works at JLR, had a smashed in car and the OP turns up with a bundle of parts under his arm and photos of a broken wall it will get sorted pretty quick!I have a history of successfully sorting out friends insurance claims

Yes - they don't give a $hitUnless there is an injury they won't attend
I had a parked car written off after a taxi drove into it and then left without leaving any details. A witness remembered the taxi company and the make of vehicle so I reported it to my insurance company and the Police. I phoned the Police each day and after a week the taxi company gave up the name of the driver, their insurance details, and after being threatened with driving without due care and attention, failure to report an accident, and leaving the scene of an accident, admitted full responsibility.

According to the description, the chances of there having been an injury would be quite high….Unless there is an injury they won't attend
