Classics dwarfed by moderns
Discussion
yeah, modern cars are really big, sadly.
btw I love the Black from the RS2000, i only had 3 times a yellow example and 2 times a orange example.
my friend at the time had a red example, his older brother friend had a white one with black vinyl roof.
sadly those days no Internet so searching was a bit harder for your color :-)
if I would buy one ever again, I would choose a for me better color and also more hp, minimum 200hp, yes at the time the 110hp was enough in those days, the weight of such car is not that high, but now used to way more power, I would like a RS2000 with more power and modern suspension and brakes and so on, a sort Restomod RS

Yes indeed. Not difficult to do, zetec or duratec conversion. Zetec 200bhp-ish, duratec can be up to 300bhp NA if you have deep enough pockets or even a Millington.
I have just sold a standard rs2000 have an ongoing project, group 4 shell with big atlas and a duratec.
Of course you could always go new build from MST if you haven’t seen these already? Lovely things.

@Lefty, yes i know those, nice but since those are new, the tax in say the Netherlands are crazy for such engine, say such car = 100k the because new and such powerful engine = say 60k BPM/Co2 per gr/km on top.
so sadly not done, for around that say 60k BPM(not the 21% btw) alone you can buy a nice Ford Escort with a 200-280 hp engine, not all new, but restored and fast old rebuilt engine.
also personally I do like lightweight, but not a empty car without carpets or sky material and so on, I rather have say 20kg? or so on lightweight carpets and upholstery and lots of race-tec (alcantara) so it looks warm and sounds better, not to cold/raspy.
also difficult, a Escort mk1 or a mk2 rubber nose body hahah, never owned a mk1, I like the classic looks, say like those mk1 wide bodyd models, or maybe in a mk2 with X-pack but to be honest, personally I think I do like the mk1 looks a bit more, why? no idea, more round/classic, more pure? the mk2 wide arches is more build up or fast and furious or kit car ? the mk1 more 'friendly' ?

I bought a 1978 Escort MK2 RS2000 in Venetian Red in 1983 and still remember how narrow it was. It would often fit through gaps most other cars even from that era wouldn't!
Great fun while I had it, but in 1984 I couldn't resist replacing it with a Capri 2.8 Injection that was much quicker, if not quite as wieldy. But would probably also look small now.

In the Netherlands, can you re-shell a car with a new replacement? In which case, you just need an old rusty scrap Escort + an MST shell?so sadly not done, for around that say 60k BPM(not the 21% btw) alone you can buy a nice Ford Escort with a 200-280 hp engine, not all new, but restored and fast old rebuilt engine.

I believe thats possible, then it gets the old chassis-number and same Ford Escort name, so via a creative way it could be done... with say some help from the UK side Lefty said:
There are a few places making new bodyshells, Higgins in Ireland (not sure if north or south, Eire might make it easier for you since still EU).
There’s a reason v5’s are so valuable! I saw an RS2000 one sell for £5k on eBay in the last few years.
