Classic Remise is a classic car storage / sales / workshop in a cool building and is good for a poke around:

2nd this and was mentioned earlier in the thread.https://remise.de/berlin
Train ride but IMO well worth it.
It was practically empty when we went a few years ago.
We also visited sachenhausen which again is a train ride and then bus ride but well worth it.

We went there a few years ago just before new year and it was one of my favourite European city breaks, even more so because I am interested in WW2 history. As others have said, the walking tours are excellent and we ended up doing two, one of Berlin and one where we were taken to Sachsenhausen concentration camp. You don't really need a guide to take you to Sachsenhausen but it takes a couple of trains to get there so is much easier going with a guide who knows where they are going and makes sure you get the right tickets.
We stayed at Adina Apartment Hotel Berlin Checkpoint Charlie in a little self contained apartment and it was very nice indeed. My girlfriend loved the Christmas markets and I thought the Berlin Wall Museum and the Topography of Terror museum were incredible.
Apparently New Year there is amazing, we were a bit gutted as we were moving on to spend New Year in Paris, the year of the terror attacks so it was all very sombre and low key.
100% recommended if you are into 20th century history and a very cool place all round.

Its a great city but beware lots of it closes on Sunday nights so book food in advance if necessary
Other than that food and wine and everything else is fantastic
Our only regret was not booking a tour of the Reichstag
And our biggest win was 4h pottering around the bits less travelled with:
https://www.visitberlin.de/en/tickets/berlin-bike-...
Our guide was fluent in English, very well informed and took us to bits of the city most tourists dont get to see
And it was a bike ride not a cycling trip if you know what I mean thus fine for all, including my missus
The Grand Hyatt is a great hotel. Amazing views from the pool.
Make sure you watch Deutschland 83 before you go to get everyone in the mood.
Things to see:
- try and get a dome visit to the reichstag
- the pergammon museum is great
- stasi museum is really good, though the nearby stasi prison is also fascinating
- Berliner unterwelten is great though slightly scary

You will really enjoy the KitKatClub...
Lol Depends on the age of your teens, but I found Tempodrom to be cool. See if any bands are on whilst your there.
If not book the spa place underneath it called Liquidrom.
Depending on when you book they have live DJs and the music is played under the water.
And give them plenty of credit on the rental scooters.
For us it was the most enjoyable part of being in Berlin. We covered a fair distance from the zoo back to the main centre.
Roads felt safe.
We went a few years ago. We did a guided bike tour which was good and also a guided walking tour which was WW2 specific. Had a day at Potsdam too.
Very interesting city. The Russian war memorial at Treptow is quite something:

Off to Berlin start of December with wife and teens- 16 boy, 18 girl- for 4 days. Haven't been since the early 90's so expecting a few changes , a quick google comes up with a few similar suggestions of where to go, but I'm especially looking for any suggestions for offbeat/quirky/unusual to engage the world weary teens.
The beautiful Christmas market called Spandau.Easy on the train from Berlin main station.
The Germans really know how to do Christmas.
Love Berlin and have been several times.
As mentioned Tempelhof Tour is excellent.
The natural history museum is really good, especially if you like dinosaurs, they have one of the most complete “real” t-Rex skeletons.
Nightlife has something for everyone!
The Käfer restaurant on top of the Reisstag (city hall) is expensive but great, you need to book though.
We’ve done NYE twice and spent both midnights at the Christmas market in Gendarmenmarkt. Brilliant. There’s a nice Hilton hotel just next door.
