Thanks, decided it's not the app for me anyway.

Well I just joined Hinge having got out of a long relationship. My first OLD experience. I am 6’1, earn good money, can hold a decent conversation and am not bad looking.

On the down side I still live with the ex (selling house in Jan) and have a daughter who lives with the ex ex.

Got 40 likes (presumably as I am new) and 15 or so look lovely but shut app down for now.

Can’t even figure out how to like them back. Meeting up with a pro mate for coaching. I will doubtless provide some humour on here.
Sounds like when I first joined PoF back in the day. My friend was using and was trying to persuade me to do the same after I had split from my ex wife. I thought it would be a waste of time, but bored one evening I created a profile and thought that even if I just chatted to a few people it would be better than nothing.

Like you, because I was new I started getting messages immediately which surprised the hell out of me. Now I cannot say they were all 10s, but suddenly I wasn't staying in on my own on Friday and Saturday nights anymore.

I think you will do well if you decide to take it further and it sounds like you are not that bothered either way which is like catnip to a lot of women.

Been reading back 5 pages or so…..

To the two chaps who tragically lost their wives and have now found somebody. Genuinely over the moon for you. Made my day!

Cheekster - you dodged a bullet. That kind of crass lack of kindness would have come out eventually. You turned up early, you’re a decent man. Chin up.

I’ve been on and off the apps for a few years. Had some success, some outrageous fun and some seriously demotivating experiences which made me want to be alone - actually quite happily so - for months.

Two months ago, on the spur of the moment I went back on Bumble. I’ve found a wonderful woman. Genuinely can’t quite believe what has developed with her. She is a real person - meaning she’s not wishing some kind of mental checklist, playing a game, scratching an itch or just going through the motions.

I have many things to work on, I have some things going for me (6’3” ish which seems to be some kind of bizarre access pass). Various other blah blah plus factors too.

She is kind. I stressed that quality above everything else. Kindness, the ability to take the piss liberally and receive it too. The material things which are sometimes pre-reqs just do not apply. Unflinching honesty and candour has been crucial too.

It has happened at a time when I have some big life things to sort out, and hence least expected to meet a woman. We’re both equally keen, calmly keen, not giddy.

No idea if this reads in a corny, cliched or dull way, but I feel really good.

Just wanted to say, amazing things can happen.

There are some absolutely stunning, self-deprecating, funny and genuine women on these apps. Especially for me, women in their 40s and 50s who want to enjoy life, meaningfully.

Hopefully you won’t see me back here with a snake with tits rant in a few weeks. :-)

Adam.

Honestly could not care less right now, just dipping my toe in. Date lined up for Friday with a stunner.

Must be on a different app or beginners luck. Or fresh eat algo. 100 likes of which 30 worth pursuing, probably helps being in London

Short girls should be lighter and easier to pick up. Back in 2004ish I was sleeping with my coworker in Spoons who was a tiny redhead and loved being picked up from cowgirl. One day were were on her sofa with her in reverse cow girl and I decided to go for it and stood up, blew her mind and made me feel like Rocco Siffredi.

Hmmm, don't get two carried away, I can only think of a couple of dates where they looked like their pictures and I wasn't slightly disappointed when they turned up.

Haven't really been keeping up with this thread, but can someone PM me discreetly as to whether this ^^^^ is serious?
Yes it is my profile, it is serious. It is trying to make me sound as Alpha as I can, like I've skinned a deer etc with the fact I do t want massive units.

Now if someone reads that all and messages me, then bingo saves all the time wasted.

Some of the facts might not be 100% accurate.

Let's see give it a month see if I get any takers.
I'm disappointed. You've let me down. This is dripping with Soy.

No Jordan Peterson / AJAC / Tate Bros references? Nothing about being Jaccinated, not Vaccinated?

I expect references to ground beef, egg whites, BCCAs, Bro-splits, cold plunge based foreplay, hunting Elk with bow and arrow at least.

And nothing about WiFi money / DeFi / crypto / Inner Circle on Telegram?

WTAF?

Yeah - well aware of the dangers of airbrushing photos.

Got about 70-80 likes so far which I have whittled down to about 15 but now have 10 who want to meet up, Canned 5 who wanted video calls or extended chats before meeting which I find awkward and unnatural.

Definitely need to dial it back as I can’t be doing with juggling all that.

Anyway Hinge in London seems very good so far.

I read this thread with amusing interest
Over the last 5 years that I ve been divorced, ( I’m now 61, live in west cornwall)
I ve tried every dating app, websites, introduction agencies and matchmakers, I ve spent over £10,000 in 5 years, I ve even been referred to councilors who tell me there’s nothing wrong with me.
From that the only response I ever seem to get is from tinder, which has given 4 dates, all disastrous, I have enough funny stories to write a book. But it’s basically got me now where.
As soon as I say my location the conversation ends. It’s strange how half the south east wants to live here, but I don’t know what they do when they get here.i will admit that I’m not interested in a girl with multiple tattoos, has a camper van, nose piercings and wants to go to festivals and stand up paddle boarding when she’s not working in a care home.
I ve tried a solos holiday, don’t do it if your under 75
Tried meet up groups.

Can’t see the point in being the only man in a yoga class in the village hall at 10 o’clock on a Monday morning

I notice on most apps,/ websites if you look every 6 months the same faces are there
So many sites are full of fake profiles, some bombard you with likes from girls in Edinburgh who only want to chat on Google chat or what’s app and the phone nos from Ghana

There was a Ukrainian girl, who when I met spoke no English and gave me her phone which said type into this app, download it because I speak no English, I was 150 miles from home so do I walk or see what happens?

Met a girl, with t tattoos on both arms, a nose ring , I said in the profile I wasn’t in to either , I have a £3000 Nikon and photoshop, but could never have photoshopped the wrinkles out like her phone did

If you live in a city you seem to have a chance, if you live in the country it seems impossible,
If I go to London and back , I never realized tinder tracks your location, when I get home and check the app I can have 15 likes, as soon as I say my location the conversation ends

E very careful of matchmakers introduction agencies, the fees vary from £2000 to £30,000, they 6 introduction in 6 months, are a joke, they think an intro is sending you a PDF Profile of someone 300 miles away that you have nothing in common with and despite their head hunting skills is on the headed paper of another agency.
The industry is totally corrupt, just preying on lonely people looking for company, they promise the world and deliver very little.

I have sympathy with you spending money for nothing - but you are well aware what the issue is. West Cornwall? I'm sure it's amazing to live there, but your market size is absolutely tiny. Miniscule.

I think you know you'll have to make a choice between living somewhere incredibly remote, and romance.

You are kinda in the wrong county then but not all are like this and at your age as long as you are not an alcoholic (functioning or not) then you have a lot going for you as all my 50-60s female friends down here complain of a severe lack of decent men.

I recently signed up to Greatest Hits Dating.

I've had the grand total of four views on my profile. That's three more then all the other dating sites/app's I've used in the past !

I assume this will just be a white label version of an existing dating site where they just put their logos on.

Surely that's the nature of most dating sites, and dating in general for that matter. Women put themselves out there and men do the approaching. It's always been that way.
