Sterling is increasingly looking like a good option on the left. Him, Kane and Saka in front of Bellingham Rice and Foden would be quite a front 6. But I suspect it'll be someone more defensively inclined than Foden, in which case I'd go for Lewis. But Southgate will go for Henderson.
Bellingham and Rice are all we need as midfielders who can defend and also are great at going forward. With those 2 we don't need a Henderson or Philips!
The we have Foden for the flair but who is also a great ball player.
WP/Gordon as back ups.

You cannot be serious. Sterling is not the answer for any question with regard to the England team.272BHP said:

Southgate needs to rethink his team but it's really too late now.
Start with Walker, Trippier, Grealish (yes really) Foden, Watkins, possibly Gordon, Lewis maybe in a couple of years.
It as early morning, should have included Saka & Bellingham too.Start with Walker, Trippier, Grealish (yes really) Foden, Watkins, possibly Gordon, Lewis maybe in a couple of years.

So we're not doing 'selection based on form' anymore?

Sterling is good at drawing players as he rarely has and end pass, but even on form I don’t rate him. Go on then: who's your choice for the left side up front?

Sterling always reminds me of how I used to play in my Sunday league. I had tank loads of pace, but I never really knew what I was doing with the ball, and I had very little end product, he is very similar for me. So frustrating to watch I think.
Sunday League>? Pace? Frontman, ball over the top. Gets you 8 chances a game, if you can avoid the oppos lino cheating with his flag, you'd have to toe-punt at least 1 in.Pace - at Sunday league - makes you very useful!
Yes it’s easy to knock sterling and then not have an alternative. It’s strange GS hasn’t applied his messed up decision making policy to him given he still picks Hendo Phillips etc based on their performances for England from years ago … Sterling at least is getting game time.
It’s a shame Bowen can’t play as Saka is in there (given he is Englands top scorer in the PL this season) although I would have been tempted to have tried him there on the left vs Malta.

I was always more of a runner when I was younger, however I started playing football in my early to mid 20's and I really enjoyed it. I was never all that great, but my enthusiasm/pace was always there though.
