Not mine, but thought it would be worth a mention.

As my brother said, make sure you pay the $30 for the inspection report, you wouldn't want there to be something wrong with it!https://www.copart.com/lot/53487242/2008-ford-focu...

A total non-event but it is now a Cat N thanks to Hastings and their nominated "repairer" who managed to pad an estimate up to over £2,000.
On the positive side I got some cash in the bank and still have it.
For stuff like this, I wouldn't even bother with insurance. They will only stitch you up with Cat N or similar which affects the future saleability of the vehicle, thus value, but they don't care as long as they make a profit for their shareholders from your premium. About 10 years ago I had a bumper scuffed by someone in a car park, they just drove off. No idea who it was, would have had to have claimed from my own insurance. Decided it was cheaper to have a bodyshop repair it when convenient to me, paid from my own pocket, than it was to pay the excess and then also have to declare a non fault claim with associated insurance premium rises for the following 5 years. Never got insurance involved; life was simpler.
My wife and I got rear ended on the M6 last winter and although the car was repaired through insurance, the monkeys are still trying to process the claim and recover the costs from the third party. It's not difficult, they're just inept.
Low loader pickup and drop off. £200
Hire car for x days.
I can see how it went that way.
OP could have just got chipaway to repair and not involve insurers

True, but it was a non-fault claim and paid for by the insurer of the car that hit me so I couldn't see any reason to pay anything!Low loader pickup and drop off. £200

Why did you go to the insurance company with this? Seems odd as the damage is minimal. Was it all part of a bigger claim?A total non-event but it is now a Cat N thanks to Hastings and their nominated "repairer" who managed to pad an estimate up to over £2,000.

You swerve, hit the armco, bounce across to the other armco, then the car rolls and rolls, trapping the driver under the car now on fire. Luckily another driver stops and puts the fire out and with the aid of others saves the driver and his only injury was a broken collar bone. Le Mans Classic 2004. And if you thought the GT40 photos were frightening, prepare yourselves.

We searched for parts, but never found a torsion bar. Astonishingly, this car was rolling and ready to race a year later.
