Seeing the effort and love that has gone into this is amazing. Absolutely amazing car man, it'll stay with you for a long time!!
Every time I tell myself a Saab 9-3/9-5 aero and a remap by noobtune will have me happy, I see this and want my own MPS, albeit the 6 as that's what I really want...
Keep up the hard work man, amazing car, and I love the different touches you've done
Thank you! If you have always wanted a 6, get in there yourself. It will require some love and patience, these things aren't the cheapest of machines to keep in good condition.Every time I tell myself a Saab 9-3/9-5 aero and a remap by noobtune will have me happy, I see this and want my own MPS, albeit the 6 as that's what I really want...

It held value well but still not worth a lot considering the running costs.
Anyway, in a clear out I found a bunch of older "history" from ours and reached out to the person who bought it off us. Turns out it's currently having it's engine rebuilt after he remapped it and it went pop!

Looking good - I can't wait to see and hear that Corksport exhaust fitted
No video yet! But here is what it looks like!Sticks out a bit more than stock, which I like and it does sound rather sweet. A bit of a boxer burble to it!
Engine mounts have firmed things up slightly without being too obnoxious and hardcore.
Steering rack change has made a difference to the low speed manuvering, and less clunks coming from the rack. It took ProTyre 3 attempts to align the front properly. I think I may have just got a little unlucky but we got there in the end.
The bad however, is that there is still a knock coming from the front. But I can easily replicate it. If you jab the throttle in first or second and lurch the car you can hear it knock. This happens everytime I do it and whether it is linked or not when I reverse up my drive which is inclined there is a knock as I go up. I have dropped my garage a line and will hopefully give them the car back to get to the bottom of it. It hopefully is the last remaining issue......
Happy 2021, since the last update there hasn't been anything of note on the MPS.
The exhaust has bedded in nicely and I am very happy with it. Still no complaints with the engine and gearbox mounts, the car feels tight and solid without transmitting vibrations into the cabin.
Someone very kindly gave me a door ding in a supermarket car park, even though like many on PH I don't park near people for this very reason. Cars do not require friends if you have 100's of free spaces to park in . This dent got sorted last week and you cannot really make out any damage.
With my house move being tantalisingly close. I haven't popped her into my garage to check out the last few noises yet, as I'd like to tie this in with the move so I don't have to worry about having my car in the way.
Plans for 2021? This is a good question. At the moment I am not sure what I want to do. It might be a more preventative maintenance year, once we are allowed out and about I will look into getting the timing chain sorted as even though it isn't causing any issues at the moment it should probably get done. Otherwise we have reached the point of remapping/turbos/downpipes but I still enjoy the car at stock power, so may wait until the turbo decides it has had enough then make that decision. Maybe do some research into a big break kit. but I am keen on keeping the Prodrive wheels, so that may dictate whether this happens or not.

Soooooooo the MPS has a new home........as do I!
Here she is after her first clean at the new place and the first post winter. Today was the day I retrieved her from the garage, she was dropped off for a little inspection and to keep her out of the way during the move!
It was also good as it would have been my dads birthday yesterday and I wanted to spend a little time giving the car some love.
Unfortunately not all good news, as I was cleaning I noticed some spider web crackling under the paint on the bonnet in 2 places. So I will pop back to the body shop Monday for a chat to see if they can rectify this for me. You may have to zoom in a little to see!

Visited the body shop and they booked me back in to get it sorted under the paint warranty! Which is great news, I've checked with my detailer and he is happy to re-ceramic coat the bonnet after the respray. So should only be a minor cost to me.
Gave the MX5 a post winter clean as well today. So here is a little pic of them side by side.

Hey Jester,
Car looks great, nice mods too.
I used to have a Gen 1 too, but it went up in smoke last year.
I had the dreaded front end knock on mine as well. I had most of the suspension components changed try to get rid of it, but gave up in the end. Strange thing is, it passed every MOT with that clunk.
Next mod for you is prob a new turbo, but with all the other required bits your gonna be around £1600/£1800 just for parts.
I'd go BNR S4 if I still had an MPS.
Anyhoo, if you want to pimp up the cabin area, I took my CP-E triple gauge pod (inc Boost, Oil Pressure and Oil Temp gauges), out of my car before it went to Co Part.

PM me if your interested.

New turbo and downpipe is probably what I am looking at. But it does spiral out of control as you could easily add an exhaust manifold at the same time. Not sure how I want to go after the K04 goes pop. CST4 or BNRS4 are contenders, but I cannot get the nagging feeling a Bernies Blowers RM400 rebuild on the K04 might also be smart. As I do like the way the car drives on the K04.Car looks great, nice mods too.

Thanks for the offer. the CP-E bits are quality bits of kit, not sure if I want to go triple gauge even though it does make a lot of sense just for the engine info. I'd have to think about it!

I remember test driving one of these when they were brand new...I was in a 1.6 Civic at the time, the MPS actually scared me with how bloody fast it was haha!
I was going to buy until the salesman said they wouldn’t tax it as it was £500 so I walked away!
It amazes me how many people are so quick to tune, the MPS still doesn't feel a slouch and I've had it nearly 2 years now!I was going to buy until the salesman said they wouldn’t tax it as it was £500 so I walked away!
Nothing much to report, MPS is due in the bodyshop Thursday for the bonnet to be re done.
But today I finally got round to replacing the front tyres on the PZ wheels with the Mich PS4's I had on my other set of RX8 wheels. Instantly they feel so much better than the Yoko's that were on there. Michelin really do seem to sprinkle magic dust on these things.

From what I know any front and back sudden movements can be control arms on these cars.I have an annoying clunk from the rear of my Gen 3 over bumps, mainly when cold. Any idea what it could be ? Shocks/Top mounts/Drop links AND rear anti roll bar bushes have been done
thanks
Hey guys! Thanks for taking the time to read this.
