Unpopular opinion but good for him, technologically much more interesting than just an 850cc. FourWheelDrift said:
As Ducati provide the bikes for MotoE and have the best MotoGP bike that would double their technological advantage. He'd have been completely stupid not to try for it, and that's one thing he certainly isn't! Also easy for the other manufacturers to see through it and reject though.Interesting to see how much innovation Ducati come up with compared to the others. I wonder why the others don't? The only significant thing from the others in the last few years seems to be the Aprilia "ground effect" lower fairing. Maybe it's just the only thing that's been highlighted and the others don't push the regs to get the headlines... e.g. Ducati swingarm ground effect vs tyre cooling device.

It just baffles me why the Japanese are so far behind given they're much larger companies and access to lots of resources, knowledge and data.
Insular operations with cultural issues. No different to 4 wheeled motorsport, where its only when Japanese makers handed over running and development of race/rally teams and cars to European based organisations, such as TTE and Prodrive etc.
It was only a matter of time before the Japanese would be left behind once European makers started to take MotoGP seriously.
Just daft from Marc there, he needs to focus on himself and stop trying to play games. Could see he went in way too tight which forced him wide on exit, then asking too much to pull it back which folded the front. What set that in motion was his line through T1... Surprised no one called it apart from Laverty just now watching the replay. Crystal ball stuff but he just needed a clean lap, it didn't need much to cover off 2nd and go through. That's probably fked his weekend now. I expect some desperate riding in the sprint and GP..
Bastianini responded beautifully..

Whilst watching the proceedings today was thinking why so many Spanish & Italian riders?
Better weather, sponsors preference or do the UK bike nutcases prefer things like the IOM TT?
It's pretty much Spanish ran or has been for years. V difficult for anyone UK or USA based to break into. Better weather, sponsors preference or do the UK bike nutcases prefer things like the IOM TT?

The number of Italian riders is mostly down to Rossi and his VR46 Academy. He put in similar investment as in Spain to get more Italians on the grid. I think only Digi and Bastianini are not part of VR46.
In the UK it's more production based historically which doesn't help, and everyone likes football more than bike racing.

Can only assume something wrong with peccos bike, I wonder if it was the one he crashed in quali??
I don't think it was the same bike, sounds like he used his spare, but it could be lost in translation - he said “Today, we just had to change the bike from qualifying to be more careful and it was not working like I expected."https://www.motogp.com/en/videos/2024/05/11/bagnai...
So maybe they were working to get his number 1 bike ready, didn't have enough time to fix it and left too little time to check the number 2 bike was good to go.
