Cold Case Investigators - Solving Britain's Sex Crimes on iPlayer

Cops investigating historical sex crimes. Some very graphic accounts featured, particularly the second episode.

A big salute to all the brave victims for featuring on these type of programmes clap
Just demonstrates how much probably has slipped the net over the years.

That horrible bloke who moved to Brighton has lived Scot free for 40 years, and googling he was a Naval Officer, I shake my head https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-beds-bucks-h...

I always think bitter sweet, thanks to DNA, justice is done, but
the scumbag is in his 60s and has had decades of freedom.

Also respectalations to the diligent coppers back in 1983, who carefully ensured the swab evidence was
properly stored so a single sperm thingy could give a positive DNA profile, brilliant.

Good that Andy is receiving counselling, this investigation has been an ordeal for him.

Can i grump about the terrible camerawork, just fking awful, I know it's the latest film school
ultra cine verite style , steadicams and autofocus being so passe, but having the person who is speaking
in frame AND in focus, is not much to ask.

I wasn't aware, so it must have been ok.

Good program, though.

The Lithuanian in the woods - I cannot remember if there was any momentum at the time but having re-watched it again last week I just don't buy the end of the story

When they found him (*and I accept that was at his hide*) he was clean shaven and had trimmed hair and he actually looked smart. If I was living in the woods my clothes would be crumpled and despite my best efforts they would have mud or other stains just from lying in the shed. The clothes were also in good condition and did not look like ones scavenged from a clothing bank

It is possible he found a 'phone but where was it topped up? More importantly no one finds a 'phone with it's charger and where did he plug it in?

I absolutely believe that he was bullied and attacked I just think he had over the years arranged a support network including somewhere to live and it may have suited all sides *including the police* to portray his discovery as shown but he was not living there 24/7

Just finished watching both episodes and some excellent results for the victims.

In the second episode, the man posing as a taxi driver to commit rape was (thankfully) very poorly advised by his solicitor, or very arrogant. He should have said no comment until he knew the strength of evidence against him as is common in these programmes, instead he said he had never met the victim and never had sex outside marriage. That fell apart once the DNA evidence was disclosed, and he made a very tenuous attempt to backtrack.

It’s certainly not doing wonders for the Luton tourism board.

In fairness, they started with a bit of a pooey stick to begin with.

Went there once, never again. I would rather go back to Basra than Luton...

A friend of mine went to collect and pay for a set of Lamborghini wheels in Luton. From a flat.Above a sex shop. We thought it wise to both go up, one stand off and dominate the cash etc, whilst he confirmed the goods were legit….

I agree, he was in full on fight mode, the solicitor looked like he was doodling knowing he was effectively lining up his own sentencing.

If he paid for that solicitor, he should be demanding a refund.

I particularly liked the taxi driver's assertion that the photofit of somebody with mid-length hair couldn't possibly be him, as he always had his own hair either really long or really short. What a genius.

One on Channel 5 the the other day, The Intruder: He's watching you from within. The story of "The Fox" from 1984.

It went on a bit and seemed to have an ad break every five minutes but it was pretty good. I had never heard of this case.

He's due for parole this year, hopefully he gets turned down. He was given six life sentences, so to me that should mean he is never out in public again.
Looks like he died in prison couple of days ago, so sounds like a result.

Heads up fellas, looks like a new series of 24hrs in police custody is on at 9pm tonight. Reading the blurb it doesn’t sound like one I’ve seen before so fingers crossed it’s a return to the style of the earlier series.

Was it originally tonight, but moved due to the election debate on ITV?

Late edit.its now changed on epg to an episode of grand designs so looks like it’s been hoofed for the debate.

Sky have messed me up again, after the kind reminder on here last week I set it to record last night, obviously it's then been moved to tonight but apparently that's too hard to handle so it hasn't recorded. Thank goodness for +1 I guess but then no HD.
