A little update. After removing all the gel coat ( never again! ) and flatting. I was ready to reapply new gel coat. My supplier strongly recommended using a 2 pack epoxy instead, so coat 1 went on today with a roller. After coat 2 has cured, it hopefully won’t be too awful to flat it, ready for my painter.
As well as an opening bonnet rather than the tilt front, I changed to pop up headlamps.

It really is a fabulous design - And so nice to see that it's not trying to be a replica of a car that already exists cool

You'd struggle to have a such a decent looking car look a fright, somehow he's achieved it.

Neil Id be really interested to hear how that went. My Vixen bonnet is in need of a new gel coat and I was also advised to use two pack epoxy primer instead.

The two pack went on well - albeit with the roller, and the textured finish, but it’s rock hard and should sand nicely without too much clogging. If you could find someone to spray the two pack, that would be even better !

Someone let me know if one of these pops up anywhere in the future as I’m seriously considering buying one. Especially an Austin Healey 3000 based example as I think it would be the perfect accompaniment to my 1967 Trident Clipper (Healey chassis)

not to my taste , however , The thing I like about American classics is normally they are in brilliant condition with hardly any rust and really nice interiors ,

This is a fantastic car , I personally would repaint metallic candy apple

Spotted your car in Eaglesham this morning (been trying to work out what it was since). Going to look very cool finished.

The guy we spoke to at the garage didn't have a clue what it was either. It was parked behind an F150 and next to an Excel, as Lotus fans we stopped for a look at that

Do you know the painter well? I'm looking for someone to do a bit of paint on a Lotus for me in the next couple of months.

He’s perhaps not the best painter in the world, but he’s done work for me before, and he’s cheap !
I was originally booked in with a guy in EK who was recommended by TVR guys, so used to glassfibre, but he’s let me down by postponing twice 😡
Kris says he’ll be done in a month. You’ll be welcome to view the finished job then if you like
