Caught doing 120mph on the motorway
Discussion
Last night wasn't great. It's my own fault I know but on a nice quiet stretch of motorway at 1am on a Sunday night I got nicked doing just over 120mph. Not good but if you take these risks you have to face the consequences.
Currently I have a clean licence and I need my licence for work. I won't loose my job as I am the director but it will be a pain.
What do you lot reckon I will get?? Worst case and most likely it's a ban. With a very good solicitor and a lucky mag on the day I'm hoping (praying) for 6 points and a bigger fine.
Thoughts please guys? Btw the police were very nice and just doing their job, I knew what I had done and made my bed so now I must lay in it!

Was it at least in the Ferrari?
A ban is almost certain, though on the face of it the circumstances don't sound particularly reckless so decent representation could show that it isn't as bad as it sounds (moment of madness in an otherwise blemish free driving history, empty road, etc)
Only 6 points I think is fairly unlikely.
Kudos for taking responsibility for your actions

Happened on the M27. I will update on here once it goes to court and let you all know the outcome.
No point worrying too much about it!!!
6 points would be ideal! Unfortunately relocating to St Tropez is not an option!!! I'm far from rich just work in the motor trade and put my profits into appreciating vehicles!
Let's hope for the best.

It's by no means a definite ban. Turn up to court, apologise and don't offer excuses. A letter from your employer saying it's out of character and that you losing your license will be detrimental to your staff who rely on you to bring in business etc. I've said this over and over again... it got me 6 points and a large fine.
You can't offer 'exceptional hardship' in the strictest sense but certain mitigation and appearing to be remorseful and sorry and without trying to excuse your actions (which seems you've got that one OK) and you're by no means guaranteed a ban.
You may end up taking a 2 week holiday which may end up better for you?

I was in a friends car when he got pulled at 106mph we where 20 young and stupid. He absolutly did need his license for his job. He didnt lose his license but I was surprised he didnt. I dont know the full out come as we where on a course so never found out the full judging but he kept his license. I remember thinking when he got pulled at that speed he will get banned. I always thought anything over a 100mph was automatic. This was also on a busy motorway not at the dead of night. Hope it works out for you OP.

This is my favourite post I think realistically and hopefully it will be a shortish ban and if I'm very lucky 6 points as you say. I did kind of know / guess this but I hate uncertainties and not knowing the outcome. Now I just have to wait....... a loooong time which is the annoying bit; I would rather get it sorted tomorrow!!!You can't offer 'exceptional hardship' in the strictest sense but certain mitigation and appearing to be remorseful and sorry and without trying to excuse your actions (which seems you've got that one OK) and you're by no means guaranteed a ban.

Thing is the Mrs is 5 months pregnant too - she's not too impressed! Usually she really wouldn't mind but it's not just me and her now!

Ah the M27. I was done a few years ago, 2am, 109.9 MPH. Sounds contrived, but I think me may have just been trying to keep me under 110 MPH. The po-po in an unmarked, I was in an M5. Very polite and all that, I said it's a fair cop, they said we just couldn't ignore that speed even at this time of the morning. Southampton magistrates, apologised profusely, said had been late at work and keen to get home (which I was) 2 week ban and about £500 fine as I remember. No point worrying too much about it!!!

Didn't bother with a solicitor. Best of luck OP.
