On what planet does... "he was pushing fairly hard" ...equate to 140/150mph????
Sounds like another 'potential organ donor' trying to help ease the transplant waiting list. You know you can 'do your bit' by giving blood? There's no need to ride with the devil on the pillion, FFS.
I don't see this going well at all

On the planet of the litre bike...Given 5/600m of empty tarmac even my (relatively slow, by superbike standards anyway) bike will go from 60 to 130/140 and back down again without any effort - christ, most 1000cc bikes will hit 150 from a standing start quarter mile...
Hard to comprehend from the perspective of a car driver, just about any car will feel like a Diesel Mondeo after getting off a properly fast bike
This post is in no way an attempt to justify any dangerous riding, only to highlight a difference in perspective on speed, hitting those speeds on a bike isn't exactly challenging, or particularly rewarding, the real fun is in the corners anyway...

You don't even have to "push" on a litre bike to get to 140/150. Considering there are bikes out there that will get to 150 in about 10.5 seconds from a standstill, imagine doing 60, 70 or 80, in the right gear you just open the throttle and you're there. Even a 1990s 600cc bike has the kind of accelerative capability to get to those speeds with little road needed. When your experience is on 4 wheels, 150 sounds ridiculous, and I suppose in a sense it is - have an accident at these speeds and you aren't making it home, but 150mph is just a couple of seconds of throttle for a litre bike, it's really not as dramatic as you're making out. Highly illegal in this country though, naughty naughty.Sounds like another 'potential organ donor' trying to help ease the transplant waiting list. You know you can 'do your bit' by giving blood? Change the actual number to 140 then, the point of the post remains unaffectedhttp://www.sportrider.com/tech/sportbike-performan...

You need to know what you're looking at. There are a lot of non-sports bikes on that list and a lot of very old tackle. Conversely, there are also a lot of bikes which are not only well into the 140s but are also VERY financially accessible. http://www.sportrider.com/tech/sportbike-performan...

I've said this before but - as an owner - the performance of a genuine, albeit off the peg 21st century litre sports bike can properly mess with your head, unless you're used to VERY fast vehicles. There was a quantum leap around the mid-2000s. I'd take a punt that you're not going to experience these levels of performance on 4 wheels without spending a lonnnnng way into 6 figures (or very serious modification).
