Steady on fella it doesn't sound like he's had a NIP yet!http://www.mjpmotoring.co.uk/guidelines-speeding-o...

That table is for not guilty plea if it goes to court.
OP, you won't get offered a course, it will be 3 points and a £100 standard fine I expect.

I wont get offered a course as the speed was to high? whats the threshold for a course for a first offence? That table is for not guilty plea if it goes to court.

There are no special considerations for a first offence. It's the same each time. Here's Notts police statement, but they are all generally the same. (Some local variances.)
To be eligible you must meet this criteria
1.you admit to being the driver of the vehicle and this is received by us within 42 days of the date of the offence.
2.you haven't attended a Speed Awareness course within the last three years
3.the speed you were travelling at the time of the offence must fall within the acceptable speed range
(Speed limit + 10% + 9mph). For example, in a 30 mph limit – you could attend a course up to 42mph inclusive.
On the course I did the average was about 35 mph.
You will get a Notice of Impending prosecution (NIP)in the post soon, you decide if you want to cough, fill in the forms, then they will decide if it's a FPN or a course and notify you in writing.

First things first.
Were you stopped by the officer?
If so, what were you told?
Yes, as per my original post I was stopped by a single crewed officer hiding in an entrance. He told me he was reporting me for the offence of speeding and I would receive a letter in 2-3 weeks that I will need to act on. There was not really a lot to be said, I was speeding, he caught me.Were you stopped by the officer?
If so, what were you told?

If stopped at the roadside, he would have had a verbal NIP read to him. NIP is served at the time. That table is for not guilty plea if it goes to court.

This is rubbish. You will not get an NIP in the post. You will have been given the NIP at the time of the stop. No need to identify the driver, the police stopped you, they know you are the driver. Here's Notts police statement, but they are all generally the same. (Some local variances.)

Darn, they warriors are out early today. Was editing my post before I read that he had been stopped, I assumed he'd been flashed.
The "rubbish" quote is quite uneccessary, the relevance of what happens next is I think correct guidance. i.e. he'll probably get an offer of a SAC if he chooses to accept it.

You are 1mph over the threshold for the course.
Speed Limit Threshold for DAS
30 36mph - 42mph
40 47mph - 53mph
50 58mph - 64mph
60 69mph - 75mph
70 80mph - 86mph
Ah, you are correct. I put the calculation in my post (10% + 9mph = 53) but failed to work it out!Speed Limit Threshold for DAS
30 36mph - 42mph
40 47mph - 53mph
50 58mph - 64mph
60 69mph - 75mph
70 80mph - 86mph
Sorry OP, looks like 3 points and whatever standard fine is applicable.
