Car paint work
Discussion
Brand new civic type r in championship white, got it home got it clean noticed that unfortunately all the plastics (bumpers vent etc..) are a different colour to the rest of the car, told Honda took it to the dealer they agreed,
Cue a 2 month wait for the new bits to come in and they have now all been fitted and guess what still a really bad colour match.
Too me the bumpers are actually what colour championship white should be. The dealer is now telling me to take this up with Honda. The dealers demonstrator is also the same.
I don't want a car that's two different colours, I stopped at the fiat garage on the way home. They had a metallic white fiat 500 on the forecourt, it was brand new and cost 11k and the coulour between plastic and metal body panels match was perfect, my car was 30k.
Any advise to what I should do please?

Not quite as bad as that! Made me laugh though!! This is what I thought it's the dealers problem, going to pick it up on Monday was supposed to be finished this afternoon but it's not, spoke to the service manager and he tells me it's know better. I will get some pics up later. Really gutted as I love the car, never had a new car and just want everything to be perfect. I am fussy yes but if you had a bit of touch up work done on a car and it came out like mine knowone would be happy.
Thanks for the advice will report back Monday.

Entirely depends on the factory, and how thick the paint is, how many coats are underneath, what colour the plastic is before painting etc.
Metal will reflect light differently to plastic, so unless there's enough base coats to stop this effecting the final colour you might see a difference.

So finally pick the car up today after the new bumper they originally ordered was bent so had to wait for a new one and............ It now looks worse!
Dealer agrees with me so I have to ring Honda tomorrow to reject the car.
Gutted is an understatement.
Hang on, shouldn't you be returning it to the dealer? Let them handle Honda.Dealer agrees with me so I have to ring Honda tomorrow to reject the car.

I am absolutely sure that your contract is with the dealer. You bought from them, not Honda. They need to handle the rejection.
It sounds like they are fobbing you off and making you do the legwork. If people bought direct from Honda, dealers wouldn't exist.
I'm not a retail lawyer, I don't run a dealership and don't work for citizens advice. However, I'm convinced you need to go through the dealer.
Happy to be proved wrong by someone in the know.

This topic is worthless without pictures.
I suspect if the dealer has already replaced parts and this has made no difference then you'll get the standard "they're all like that sir".
Your chances of rejecting the car will be slim in my opinion - it depends how bad the colour match really is.

So turns out the dealership was correct,
Awaiting a call back from someone at Honda Swindon to discuss the rejection process or maybe look into getting the paintwork matched by a paint shop.
I will not be accepting the line "they are all like that" Honda have admitted a fault by changing half the cars bodywork in the first place.
Again will do my best to update the thread when I hear back from them.

I stand corrected. I did think they could handle this for you though, rather than you chasing.Awaiting a call back from someone at Honda Swindon to discuss the rejection process or maybe look into getting the paintwork matched by a paint shop.

I'd probably get it rejected. Do you really want the thing painted again? Get another one and try again. Or get something different.
