Goodbye, Goodluck and Farewell....................
Discussion
Don't know quite how to put this...but..
there are a couple of full time post at my county's Safety Camera Partnerships for a Constable; and i've applied.
It's a six month attachment to start with..with the possiblity of a permanent position. I've been given the 'wink' that if I apply (deadline was today..i'd not seen in on the General Orders ) I'll be almost certainly accepted. Application form was filled out and delivered to HQ by hand at 1530hrs today.
The hours are set in advance, no night shifts, no dealing with the unpalatable sides of the job etc. The money is the same as a normal constable with the added bonus of as much overtime as you want.
No having to account for ones actions following an arrest, ticket etc etc. No filling in forms for every person who is questioned on the streets (as at 2nd April this year...that is what every copper in England and Wales must do!) No more trying to please everybody and ending up pleasing nobody...
I don't see my place in SCP as something 'forever', but as a change for the forseeable.
Consequently; knowing how people feel about camera operators on here....and how the majority of PH'ers don't seem to be interested in aquiring a 'contact' on the 'inside' so to speak...
This is goodbye.
I've enjoyed it very much on here...good times and bad.
This is not a 'group hug' and I don't expect any posts of 'Stay and contribute'..(not that there would be any.. ) but simply a polite message in case anybody wonders where I have gone.
So, stay safe...drive well and good luck....and if you have a PISTONHEADS sticker in your window, I'll make sure I point the camera at the sky as you drive past..

I'm sure I'll speak for alot of people by saying that all contributions from BiB are always valued here (even if we don't always agree! )and so its a shame to lose any BiB from the forums, but I am somewhat bemused (despite the reasons you've given) that any PHer could ever consider working for a 'SCP'. I'm sure we could have a whip-round for a little bit of therapy and mental re-conditioning...

Good luck Street
I can understand your motivation form a lifestyle point of view, but I can't imagine it being a satisfying job.
As for the dangled "if only you'd been nicer to me you could have had a friend on the inside", what exactly would you then have offered us?
A secret sign to make to the operator to avoid being done?
Tips on how to make your car invisible to the laser gun?
A daily list of all scam van sites?
Or platitudes about driving within the speed limit at all times?

GARY
What would having a contact on the inside do for PHers? What is there for us to learn from a scameraship insider. You're hardly going to tell us what detectors or jammers work best!
In the past, you've told us that scamera operators are directed where to park the van up and what limits to apply with the scameras. Recently you told us that you are happy to zap away at ACPO guidlines of 10%+2 when in the scameravan, whilst a while ago you said you don't pull over people on motorways unless they are driving like a tt or doing 90+. How do explain this? to me it looks like you've just taking an easier life damning the rest of us.
You posted that when working for the scameraship you will be earning the same pay, without shiftwork, threat to personal safety, dealing with the lowlife that regular police officers have to put up with. I find this particularly disturbing. I can understand for you and your family this is a marvellous opportunity, both monetarily (overtime etc)and time with the children etc. To me, the idea that scameraships can poach serving traffic officers off the roads and stick them in scamera vans at the same level of pay makes me puke.

There are certain jobs that I would not do because I know they are wrong.
I'm afraid this is one of them. Sorry! Goodbye.
Seconded.
Hopefully your moral side will win one day. I personally would rather work in Burger King full time than sell my soul to the lying cashmachines...
