Another classic case of double standards

Lucky she wasn’t riding a motorcycle?

It’s a joke these days. You can freely mow down kids and get a slap on the wrist, yet ride like a loon, and not actually hurt anyone and you get locked up.
Well done all.

As I wrote on another thread, surely this has to stop soon. There must be some kind of standard sentencing when it comes to men and women. I read so many articles where the female is 'let off' with something suspended which makes no difference as they probably don't work anyway.
My question is - cant lawyers appeal their clients sentence as not being fare based on case law? A lawyer could surely pull out x cases of women being 'let off' for similar crimes, therefore appeal his client has been discriminated against etc.
Logically this approach must be going on?

I dont think a custodial sentence is a slap on the wrist is it? Yes it was suspended but still a custodial sentencehttps://www.chesterstandard.co.uk/news/18162829.an...

And the three guys jailed, hurt nobody. But no suspended sentences there?
Apparently trying to kill these kids, and she has a previous DD is ok, as long as you’re a woman, and vulnerable?
It’s ridiculous.
What were the factors for three blokes being locked upApparently trying to kill these kids, and she has a previous DD is ok, as long as you’re a woman, and vulnerable?

Loads of men get suspended sentences. Next door neighbour nicked £30k from social club funds. Suspended sentence for him. He was neither a women or vulnerable

They were speeding and being naughty. But nobody was injured...Loads of men get suspended sentences. Next door neighbour nicked £30k from social club funds. Suspended sentence for him. He was neither a women or vulnerable
This is the issue for me.
How is this not more serious? A woman took a vehicle with the intent to hit these kids.

My old next door neighbour stole over £50k from various accounts from Barclays when SHE worked there. Suspended sentence for her, even though her defence was peppered with lies. She has not repaid a single penny of her criminal proceeds amount (of £55k).The victim in this case was my next door neighbour.

The severity of the offence is the 20 months guilty plea etc and that's a starting point of about 3 years. First conviction max penalty 5 years that's pretty hefty. This is the issue for me.

The suspending of the sentence has little to do with the severity so long as it is less than 2 years. That's to do with the person being sentenced. It will, almost certainly, include strong personal mitigation together with significant harmful impact on others. The report says that she has PTSD and is a Single mother of two children under 4 so probably when it is supposed to be used.
So it is more serious and if the offenders were reversed the imprisoned motorists would be serving this sentence, the judge said as much.
Hartley got let off today....

racing / crashing / running away / lying and only got a suspended sentence ! and a £1400 fine !
Should have got 5 years plus £1million fine and banned from driving for 5 years !

Talking of lenient sentences

Apparently being young and owning up is enough to get you out of being a total .

Those of you who clamour for jail sentences in motoring cases and various other cases that do not involve things such as rape and other violence - what do you think jail sentences achieve?
The thread title has, BTW, been pretty comprehensively debunked above. No double standards at all. I wonder will the OP be along to say "Oops, sorry ,my sexist codswallop thread is sexist codswallop"?
