From the 24th July, if you draw fuel at a petrol station and then realise you have your wallet but no face covering on you then will this be regarded as inability to pay as you cannot legally enter the store or kiosk ? I can see many people being caught out with this catch 22 over the next few weeks smile

One mask in glovebox, use when needed.

Not the way the mask should be used in order to be effective but you won't fall foul of the law. Which is more important.

The law is once again an ass.

I see people everyday not using masks properly. I know why, it's because they are not feking surgeons.

Run out of masks. How do you get in to the shop to buy more. Don’t say online either as my dad asked me this exact question because he doesn’t even have a mobile that has internet. That’s just not an option for him. Now in his case I will obviously be supplying him with masks.

But what about those poor unfortunate souls amongst us who have nobody to fall back on.

Someone sent me this the other day at work. It seems to sum up the massive U Turn on face mask policy quite aptly.

One of the reasons for a "long" lead in time from the announcement to implementation is to allow for people to get face coverings sorted.

You live in England what else do you expect?
Again we are the laughing stock of the world & I'm ashamed.

Are we required to wear a mask or a face covering?
Carrying a mask will become natural just as most cannot go a second without checking their mobile which they always have with them.

This policy of masks when shopping is complete bks. If it’s okay to go to the pub or a restaurant and not wear a face mask then why is it required for a shop. Sorry but my wife and I went to go to the pub yesterday. It was our 1st time out since February due to our work commitments and the lockdown. We walked in to the pub. Which was rammed full. Nobody wearing a mask. A one way system at the bar but absolutely no social distancing taking place.

We turned round and left.

So whilst your not covering your face in a crammed pub then it’s a waste of time just doing it in a shop.

I have already decided and my wife agrees, all our shopping will now be online unless it’s a dire emergency requirement.

But a pub isn't a shop. I certainly wouldn't go into a busy pub at the moment. Don't have an issue with shops though. (Well local ones)

I wonder how this is going to work. Are petrol stations really going to refuse payment for fuel already drawn because the motorist doesn't have a mask?

What about motorcyclists? They already have an ideal face mask, their crash helmet, but garages get the hump about them and insist that helmets are removed before entering the shop. Are they really expecting riders to take off their gloves and helmet, fill up then prat about putting a mask on when it is perfectly simple to just leave the lid on?

Of course you could just pay at the night counter without going into the shop.

Nearly all petrol stations have an exterior hatch for night time service. So just use that to pay.

Stop trying to get off paying for your fuel on a technicality you cheap bd.

We went for Sunday Lunch today- no need to wear a mask as tables spread out and staff wearing face shields. Been to a pub twice and sat outside so no need to wear a mask. Local supermarkets and people everywhere and seemingly unable to follow simple instructions on how far to stay apart- will feel better if everyone wears a mask in supermarkets

Also the requirement is a face covering, not mask, so scarf t-shirt, etc.

Except don't check your mobile while refuelling laugh

For those who are non-believers, just go Johnny Depp style with neck scarf covering the face.

I'm genuinely shocked at the amount of adults that are having real difficulty with something so simple. I'm even more surprised how many have taken to the internet to tell everyone.

There is clearly a lot of very challenged people in this country.

I’m sure you feel really pleased with yourself writing this. The fact it’s completely wrong though probably needs pointing out.

1. It’s not masks, it’s a face covering. You could use a scarf, or a tea towel, or a flannel, or a piece of paper, pretty much anything. So you don’t need to go out and buy anything, or worry about running out of them

2. It may have passed you by, but there was a major aspect at the start of all of this, which was Stay At Home and a fairly major lockdown with nearly everything shut. As things are now being relaxed, alongside an ever increasing knowledge of the virus and how it transmits then this is one of a number of measures being applied to try to avoid the need for another lockdown

If shops are such dirty, Covid-19 filled places that you need to wear a mask to walk through the door, why would anyone feel the need to go in one?

Madness. Close down these festering coronavirus breeding grounds immediately.

Haha absolutely spot-on, "but I don't have a mask", "well go and buy one then", "but they won't let me in the shop unless I wear one!"

I think the wearing of masks in shops decision has been forced upon us not due to any genuine health and safety reasons, but more to do with politics.

Alternatively we could say enough is enough of this stupidity and go stick your mask where the sun don't shine, I am old enough to make my own decisions, and am perfectly capable of balancing the risk factor of climbing out of bed and going out of the front door against that of stopping in and dying from starvation or boredom. Putting a mask on will make very little difference to my survivability if the shop is filled to the brim with Covid coffers.

Perhaps I could sign a waiver saying I accept the risk of living in this silly world alongside the easily offended snowflake generation, actually can I say generation, is it gender binary vegan neutral? Perhaps if I identify as a tea-pot can I do my weekly shop without a mask wink

All said in jest smile
