How awful for you Matchless! How terrible that the police are using a helicopter with nightvision to capture the poor criminals working your neighbourhood. My heart goes out to you (and your dodgy friends).

Matchless

You have my sympathy mate - the others may take the p!ss but I *know* what it's like to be kept awake by a hovering heli just overhead.

Reason they hover close to us - nothing to do with crime in the immediate area but we happen to live in a semi rural area with fields all around within easy striking distance of the city centre.

Don't get me wrong, I know the BiB have a job to do - but that's scant satisfaction when YOU are being kept awake and have to get up to earn your crust early the next day.

Then why post messages on internet, and not getting to sleep!

As it's a regular thing where you live then invest in some ear plugs.

I refuse to go into details but somebody I know who works for BiB(not necessarily in my part of the world)heard a neighbors house alarm go off, rang work, and a helicopter was sent in the middle of the night to investigate(floodlights etc)a false alarm.I was watching personally and could not believe it!

Actually, helicopters are stupidly loud, and can be very annoying, expecially when they are regularly used.

Our old local Police force (Surry) had a little experiment that involved one of it's choppers patroling the area (flying in circles around my house) 2x a day for a month!

It's not fun.

We occasionally have a police chopper tracking scum near us late at night...but it isn't that loud and isn't particularly disturbing (the disturbing thing is that some low-life is probably nearby and my P&J is in the back garden as our garage is too small).

So I'm not sure why the OP is getting so wound up - I'm all for the police actually trying to catch these scum, regardless of time...next time it might be my house or car they break into!!!

We often hear the 'fuzz copter' around our house at night, after the local scum, seems as we live near a crappy area. I am happy to put up with it, knowing that the scrotes are being persued - just wish they could hang out the windows with a few sniper rifles to do the job properly.

Gues it would pee me off if it was every night, and very close though.

I'm intimidated by policemen in pointy hats. You might have someone's eye out with that. I've been worrying about this all night and haven't slept a wink. Why can't you do some real policing somewhere else in sensible hats?

Suggest your force needs to invest in a newer helicopter. Our's has just got a new one and you can hardly hear it even when it's right overhead. It's a huge improvment on the old one which did a more than passable impression of Apocalypse Now.

If they just turned off the noisy fan when they hover at night it would help.

Locals to Hull will be familiar with the Bransholme Lighthouse.....

The police helicopter is so often over that estate at night you can navigate by it!

We had some helicopter taking photos over us last night around 7pm as I'm trying to get the baby to sleep.

I have never wanted a shoulder-mounted rocket launcher more.

I dont have a problem with plod copters out and about at whatever time of the night, id rather they were up there sticking it to the real crims (you know, the ones we're always shouting about?) than sitting in a talivan.

Big thumbs up to em.
