stick on blue light & independant flashing lights
Discussion
how about this one, im following this green focus in the fast lane, plenty of opportunity for him to pull over, but no, puff of smoke from his diesel and he starts the slow accelleration, 90,95,100,105,110,ripping the arse out of it at 115 (im in an xkr ticking over at 3500rpm) he only pulls out a flashing blue light and sticks it on his roof."must be having a laugth" i thought ,there a fiver ar halfords,he slows to 90,pulls in middle lane,i cruise past and look at him, he shakes head, no sighn of a being a copper i cruise on at 90, (was gonna dissapear in horizon, but now im thinking "hang on may have radiod ahead for traffic cop" so i stayed put, after a couple of miles ,you got it,sticky blue light back on and independant flashing headlights "hang on" i thought "begrudged salesman in poxy green focus may go to the trouble of sticky blue light from halfords, but to wire in light relay maybe not" then he indicates for me to pull over "hang on a minute, carjack and all that"so slow down and eye ball for two miles,"ok ill pull over, keep it in drive ,foot on brake, ready for the getaway if ya man has just escaped from mental home"near side window half down, very polite chap tells me this "i am going somewere in a hurry,i do not need to be pushed by you at 120 (very optomistic i thought for a chuggy focus )do you want to loose your licence, have you got the point?"then walked away, i only had a chance to say "you could have pulled over" what i should have said was "can i see your id" while driving off i thought "yeh that would have been a double glazing salesman business card" DOH!
Slightly odd. Could have been any number of things, assuming it was legit. If it had the alterate flashing headlamps, it was probably a police vehicle. That said, could have been one or two other people who can use blue lights but thought they'd have a go at a bit of Policing. As you said, you should have asked for ID.

You can buy the flashing headlamps from quote a few places. (I think they are like strobe lights).
Most of the Lax Bowells magazines etc advertise them
he would have got to where he was going alot quicker had he not botherd with me and just pulled over, ok i was speeding, if he was legit he lost his disiplins and got wound up, if you were on a couvert operation i would have thought you would not want to make yourself known by speeding, or stopping other drivers, i could have been a drug dealer and shot him dead

I pulled over a few years ago to let a "police car" pass (was dark and raining so could only make out the blue lights).
Glance across to see some Kev and his blonde girlfriend laughing their heads off!
Cnuts!
what car was it???
That oh so common CID vehicle, the Mark 4 escort cabriolet!
(I said it was dark and raining, didn't I )

Pity you didn't ring the BiB as you were "scared" by a suuposed plain-wrapper attempting to stop you, and which copshop should you go to as you weren't sure that it was a BiB???? giving a description etc...I'm sure a trafpol would have arrived perty promptly...
All very tongue in cheek of course...........
funnily enough while at work i came across a corsa that had alternately flashing lights. not a big deal but he was doing approx 50 the wrong way up a one way street. quite freaked me at the time, but i thought it had to be legit as he had the 'police headlights'. im still undecided - schemey black corsas arent really police issue but surely doing that is pushing the drivers luck a little?

Only an officer in uniform can stop you. Flashing blue lights and waving a warrent card counts for didly

"i am going somewere in a hurry,i do not need to be pushed by you at 120
But clearly not that much of hurry as he had to time to stop you.
There are a fair few emengency services personell who are allowed blues and twos and have alternate flashing headligh mods to their vehicles BUT have absolutley NO right to stop another motorist and can be prosecuted for speeding themselves. Viz a Viz the transplant guy remember him? When I was a member of HMCG i had blues and twos and alt lights to enable me to get to a shout and I know Lifeboat crews use them as well There has been a big clamp down recently but lots of the guys flout the law and quite a few police ignore them but Traffic are getting tighter and I also know of two guys recently who got prosecuted for illegal use Unless yo see a uniform and a cap on don't stop.
