I tell you what, try watching the video Imposed above all the way through and then we can enter into an informed discussion, rather than you posting juvenile statements about a serious matter.

The level of total idiocy on this thread beggars belief.

You’re worried about the impact of the covid pandemic on other conditions such as cancer? Yes, because other resources have had to be diverted to dealing with covid then more people will die of these conditions.

The fix for that is not more COVID.

If Covid is rampant in the community, then anybody with a pre-existing condition such as, ooooh I dunno, cancer is far more likely to die of it.

It’s an easy target for the thoughtless and the cruel to say things like morbidly obese diabetic people will die and that’s no loss to society “overall”. But who are they to make a value judgement on the worth of another human being’s life? What about the hundreds of thousands of people with other underlying conditions who do not fit that lazy, arrogant template?

A second wave was not inevitable. We are now where we are because of a combination of the stupid and the arrogant deciding that the guidelines do not apply to them.

For anyone left in here who prefers not to blindly believe Facebook memes, what they read on conspiracy websites or the YouTube channels of right wing extremists, I can recommend the Covid 19 coverage in the New Scientist.

It doesn't try to make you angry or advance any secret conspiracy theories though, so may not be for everyone.

But, but the "New" in New Scientist is a reference to New World Order and scientists are all big pharma government sales people.

It’s all bks either way.

And no, I’m not on the governments side on this. I’m in the camp that is just taking things one day at a time.

Very true, but you can take that error rate into account when looking at how the aggregate test results change over time. And if you think about the implications, it isn't a source of comfort. If you see the rate of infection increasing rapidly from some initially small-but-still-overstated infected population, it means the transmissibility of the infection is greater than your testing would suggest without an attempt to adjust for false-positive results.
Fair, but that is related to the second point I made - which is that the testing looks for the presence of covid not the level of covid, so people who had it months ago and are not infectious are being counted as new positives as they are tested for the first time now.

Carl Henegan of the Oxford Centre for Evidence Based Medicine was on about this - he makes this point around 14 minutes in.

Ahh! That makes sense. You disagree with the idea of lockdown etc, for Pollical reasons, and not moral or scientific reasons!!..

Yeah, it's an entirely valid point, but it should be pretty simple to quantify the effect. You know how the rate of testing has been increased. You have a population of people who have been regularly tested for months on behalf of the ONS (my family is one of them). Should be easy to estimate the distortion created by increasing the sample size.

Most people think he's an arse. Have a look at the thread about whether those who voted Conservative at the last election would do so again. I think he's an arse. I didn't vote Conservative. I don't think government scientists are in the pay of big pharma or that the government is in the pocket of people who benefit from lockdown.

Nope. It’s just the majority of those who voted for Boris are so thick they believe the bullst coming out his mouth and all those surrounding him. Nothing to do with politics, rather it’s about following the facts and outing the lies which (relating to COVID) are destroying our economy and killing many more people through late treated traditional illnesses and suicide.

You have just proven that your stance is political.

I follow the pharma situation surrounding diabetes and it’s a fact that they are actively using their resource to misinform the public and keep them on drugs rather than adopting a healthy lifestyle instead. A pharma was outed just last week for paying a diabetes charity who incorrectly advises diabetics about their diet, and the charity was not disclosing the multi-million pound payment they received. Open your eyes, it’s happening everywhere. The food industry is another example. But that’s for another thread.

How? Why? Read it again. Or are you only able to repeat yourself parrot like or can you engage in reasonable debate? Take a look at this video I posted earlier and then we can engage in an intelligent debate. Or feel free to make a stupid statement again laugh
