People just want to drive at 40mph everywhere and that's simply not acceptable
Nothing wrong with 40mph & perfectly acceptable. In many congested yet rural parts of the UK driving any quicker when able just gets you to the next queue quicker. Many times I chuckled as some pompous 'I'm a very important person' belts past & looks a right tt when I trundle up to find him waiting like the rest of the peasants at a round-about or traffic light. I know this because I have been that pompous tt in the company issued sales managers 3 Series.

I feel your pain OP
I've just been done at 83 in a 60,
I did not know what they had me at but was expecting far worse and maybe ban.
I spent two weeks thinking did it seem me at that point st I may loose license. The thought of it affecting my work mortgauge etc really scared me. I've altered my whole driving method now and cruise control is my friend.
Anyway.
I'm assuming you had 3 separate lots of 3 point fines and this will be your 4th lot ?
If so how olds the oldest one.
Oldest ones are 15 months old...what did you get?I've just been done at 83 in a 60,

Could easily happen to most bar the driving gods
Last night I noticed at dusk a bloke in a Passat panic brake in the fast lane with another speeding Charlie behind him. The reason? A Highway Maintenance vehicle (rear high viz chevron's) 1/2-1mile ahead in the slow laneSa Calobra said:

FFS - Which lanes are you talking about.... ? What are these lanes you are talking about .... another descriptor stolen from the Daily Wail and the Big Boring Corp...?

Go out and make sure you get pulled for 105mph. That's what I did with 9 points...
Then go to court.
You'll have to get a ban but the short term ban for 100+ in my case was 28 days. Which was less than I'd have got totting up.
So thanks to the glorious road traffic act 82 mph would have seen me banned for up to year on totting up.
105 mph got me 28 days (of which I spend 21 out of the country anyway) and I was back on the road again.
I hasten to add this is not the MOST responsible advice I have ever given.
Also trying to explain a discretionary ban for the next 5 years to insurance companies was no picnic.
Then go to court.

But a totter would have cleared your points. Your 105mph ban left you still with nine points. Then go to court.

Was quite a few years ago. I remember now...The circumstance was 6 were to come off in a few months, and it seemed unfair that I'd get a 12 month ban for totting up.
Still didn't stop me getting pulled at 105.
I'm a 'bit' more sensible now. :-)

It would most likely hammer your insurance.
I did 90 odd as an average with 9 points (I was put under silly pressure at work to deliver a multi million pound tender at the 11th hour). Trainee Surveyor as the time.
I made it even being stopped I drove fast after getting stopped.
Totting up ban looming I pleaded exceptional hardship and got 21 day ban which work didn't mind and £150 fine,
That was like 13 year ago

OP, any news? If not then all the best.
All in all the court were very fair and I never argued I needed my licence for work or personal hardship. Just the long term issues with my father.
So only 14 smug days for funkyrobot.....might book a holiday

Well been in court today and received a 14 day ban and fine. Also kept 9 points on my licence so the onus is on me to learn.

Many seem to favor a ban, for some reason. Surely, any length of ban will see the money sign in the eyes of insurers as apposed to totting up points? It's not great end result either way really, is it?
OP, whatever happens, take it on the chin and learn from it. I do mean that last bit aswell. Not meaning to sound like a tw4t here but you've had more than enough chances now to calm it down a bit.
