Nothing prevents deaths.

Every life saved by any means is a can kicked down the road.

Why quit smoking, eat healthily, exercise, fasten your seatbelt? You'll die anyway. Why teach your kids to cross the road, you're just delaying their inevitable death.
There is a cost attached to dealing with the consequences of all those even if they are not the reason for your eventual demise.

Ask the NHS.

Indeed. But they are all just kicking the can down the road, because we all die eventually. Covid is the same. There are calculations of how much extra time you are buying of course, but that's all you are ever doing.

I should think that the optimum for the exchequer is a massive stroke or heart attack the day after you get paid for the month you retire.

Well as far as I know the UK won't be shut down due to US deaths, but hey, send it Boris and they may well use it, they will do anything it seems.

May be of interest to those who fancy a US style approach to letting it rip.

Or the Swedish approach no?

Ps, what makes you think the US is suffering more? Given what we know of possible factors in mortality rates.

You think Covid has already killed close to 0.1% of black people and 0.05% of white people here?

Why don't you try answering the question. What, specifically, do you think may be a factor in the US given what we know.....

I didn't offer an opinion, just a link to some data and the suggestion that it might be of interest.

You keep posting the same link without any explanation expecting others to interpret it for you. Care to explain what point you keep trying to make with this public information link?

I get the feeling this will age like milk. I'll add it to the metrics we are tracking shall I? wink

Didn't think you'd read it.

It lists the measures and restrictions Sweden is imposing.

That's the real Sweden, not the one of covid denial fantasy.

The Covid deniers will keep trying to swerve this, without realising that the positives to deaths translation latency we are seeing, compared to the first wave, is because we now have control measures in place ( hands, face, space and boompsy daisy) and some people are actually doing it as well.

It doesn’t differ from my understanding of what is happening in Sweden i.e.

No masks
No business, restaurant or school closures
Sensible advice about how to protect themselves and each other
No new draconian laws implemented inconsistently
No lockdowns

Have I missed something in the link that suggests any of the above are incorrect?

I’m remain confused as the point you are trying to make with this link. Feel free to expand on your argument.

Try posting the same graphs for deaths, and acknowledge that even those numbers are skewed upwards by the biased with/from/within 28 days of a test, set of rules.
What period would you use to categorise a Covid Death?
