Indeed. But they are all just kicking the can down the road, because we all die eventually. Covid is the same. There are calculations of how much extra time you are buying of course, but that's all you are ever doing.

I should think that the optimum for the exchequer is a massive stroke or heart attack the day after you get paid for the month you retire.

Well as far as I know the UK won't be shut down due to US deaths, but hey, send it Boris and they may well use it, they will do anything it seems.

It doesn’t differ from my understanding of what is happening in Sweden i.e.

No masks
No business, restaurant or school closures
Sensible advice about how to protect themselves and each other
No new draconian laws implemented inconsistently
No lockdowns
