Five (count 'em!) in Cambridgeshire since August

So in a nutshell these powers are excessive and will be abused but they're not being used enough. http://www.cambridge-news.co.uk/News/A14-and-M11-t...
Excellent
From the Cambridge news article "It is also welcome that some of those pulled over will have been given the chance to attend a driver awareness course rather than simply being slapped with points and a fine."
So another way to keep the pack of cards called road safety ,upright. Interesting on on island lane discipline though . Till our County mark one major one correctly ,they'll be chaos. On the approach, the left lane ( right at the island is marked left only, while the outside one splits into a straight on lane and a right turn . Local road useage is to move into the right hand one well before. Try sitting in the left lane( when the arrow is not visible and the outer lane will be clogged with other traffic. Sit and wait- not an option . Only safe way is to move over early .I've had a look on Google maps and that bears me out .
The Ricoh one in Coventry was the same up till recently, but I think it's been sorted .

If only Cambridgeshire Police did the same on the A1(m) Alconbury to Peterborough..... between Alconbury & Stilton there were at least 15 overtaking invisible vehicles at about 60 mph...
Last time I was in an invisible car in Cambridge the police ripped me a new one, but I was doing more than 60 and being invisible was just a state of mind. Bit of a necro but...
Me and a friend went up from Eastleigh to Birmingham on Sunday to collect his new (to him) C class (a very nice car but I digress).
Ignoring the A34 section, as it is a dual carriageway, I counted around 20 cars there and back that could have been subjected to this new revenue generation system but obviously no trafpol to Police it that were obvious.
It appears it has been a massive failure, MLM's are still rife ?
Surely the better idea would be to pass a law where you can overtake legally on either side. Many countries do this.
The outside and middle lanes (((Safe lanes, switch off to your surroundings and uplug your brain lanes))) could be used by all without prejudice and drivers who use their mirrors and indicators can happily continue along their way without getting frustrated.

How many (marked) Police Cars did you see?Me and a friend went up from Eastleigh to Birmingham on Sunday to collect his new (to him) C class (a very nice car but I digress).

Probably explains it all

I believe we saw a panda car at one point, from memory they may have made up one of the 20 Probably explains it all
As for what I would consider to be a traffic car, not one marked the whole journey. Not unusual I guess in a 250ish mile round trip in the middle of the day on a Sunday...

I travel the M6 about an hour a day each day and if I see a couple of marked cars a month, including past he Perry Barr Control Centre.– that’s it. I see plenty of unmarked cars on blues travelling in the opposite direction (usually in pairs)
Slightly O/T incidentally the “managed” system either side of J6 (spaghetti junction) seem to be working OK (at the moment)When there are 4 lanes running people tend to stay in lane and "go with the flow" at whatever speed that lane is running at.
It’s take about a 10 minutes off what was a 55min journey for me – Downside is it’s another 12/18 months while they do from J11 up to Stafford

An FPN for a pre-existing offence was hardly going to magically solve poor driving standards...
True but, with the admittedly short publicity surrounding it you would have hoped that some MLM's may have realised what they were doing was wrong..I admittedly don't use the motorway network regularly enough at the moment to make a good guess but my trip on Sunday would suggest that the threat of new fines have had absolutely no effect at all and those that have poor lane discipline continue unhindered in their ignorance.

Is the general public actually aware that it's an offence to hogg the middle lane?
I asked the question on here (may even be this thread) of any BiB as to whether MLM’s could be tied down to any particular group (Sex/Age/Ethic Group etc) and the answer was it was the whole cross section.(Which seemed to go against my observations)
It still remains the biggest issue on the road.
There is nothing to change that, implementation of the current rules is infrequent and soft.
It remains that that lane discipline is the largest problem on UK roads. It won't be solved.
Undertaking, and lane direction either way, is becoming the norm. And so be it. Without the tools to properly deal with it, that's the status quo.
Personally my mindset now is at the give up stage. Why should I let myself become stressed day in day out at others mis education?

I overtook an MLM who followed me into the services. As they followed me in I thought to myself "I know exactly where you are going to park".
And I was right. The disabled spot next to the front door.
And when they left there was a ring of McDonald's rubbish around the space where their car had been.
Selfish people do selfish things. Not much you can do about it.
